Merry Christmas 🎁🎄 ❤
Love Wednesday walkabouts💚!
I wait until January and then mow my leaves and let them lay.
We mower with basket leaves only from grass. Then we compost them. They are a perfect mix for composting. Grass with leaves (green and brown). We leave 🍂from flower beds. They stay there till they compost themself and become mulch. They protect bulbs, and perennial plants from frost, stop soil from evaporation and they suppress weeds. I live in Poland zone 7B.
Your Fatshedera is so pretty! That’s a perfect solution for our narrow shady walkway from front to backyard where we need a privacy screen. Good to hear it survived in ground for your neighbor. We occasionally get those winter storms too. We’re in the Tx panhandle – Zone 7a.
Great video update…..careful on lifting…..🎄🎄🎄
I’m in NC zone 7. I mulch my leaves into my lawn. It takes about 3 phases. The oak leaves finally came down and I did the last round.
I’m in zone 10b SoCal the street cleaner picks up the leaves I something blow out to the curb or leave for the gardener to pick up and throw in trash can.
Merry Christmas Linda and to your family!
I just have lazy neighbors, 4 x 30 gallon bags later, and still some, I dont have any in my front yard
I was tardy with leaf cleaning last year and the leaf piles killed some emerging lilies
Zone 8b Florida. I let all my magnolia tree leaves fall then rack them and create leaf mulch in my beds.
Wow ! Those azaleas!! NJ … rake once every 2-3 weeks and they are all down now so I just cleaned up the grass for the last time . I rake them into my many flower beds .
Harvested my tomatoes 3 weeks ago . We have had nights below freezing.
Near Niagara Falls in Canada 🇨🇦
I mulch leaves with the mower, if it’s too thick on the grass, I rake off some into the flower beds. Free food for both!
We mow over the leaves and let it mulch in but we also leave a lot of leaves around plants. We just don’t worry too much. We have an acre and no HOA
I bag the leaves and put them out front for pick up. No more leaf pick up for this winter.
The yard guys bag up all my leaves. 😊🎄
I will watch/rewatch anything from Linda! Happpy Holidays fellow gardeners!
Zone 6 in CT leaf clean up with a Stihl leaf blower into the woods along my yard.
what shredder do you use for your leaves
Although I cleaned up the maple leaf drop and ran them through the mulcher for mulch, I’m leaving all the rest as protection until March – Kansas City zone 5ab
I compost my leaves 🍁 but this year I haven’t collect a lot due to time 😅
I only rake up the leaves every week or two. Number one because I love the look of fall in my yard. And two, they fall continually so I don't stress. And they are all from neighbors trees as I mostly have cedar and cypress trees.
? Of the day I live on gulf coast pensacola fl the high humidity for few weeks has started to create mold issue so i rake & or mow leaves now because of mold growth and discard ..soon it will chill down the hope to mow leaves and disperse in beds or use my mulcher like you have!! Thanks Linda great info!! We finally after many weeks of dry are getting rain now!! 👏👏👏
We have 3 45 yr old white oaks. We found that it is easier to clean up once they all fall. It doesn’t take long. I leave what falls in flower beds. My husband mulches them with mower, then use sweeper to pick up. I will use on any bare spots in flower beds and mulch walkways In vegetable garden. Zone 8b Louisiana
Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Zone 8B. I leave leaves in the flower beds and against the fence.
I think I am 7a in Southern NJ but the birdbath has had thick ice for a month and I use to have raspberries until Thanksgiving but this year— nothing. I did buy some pansies and I have them in pots and I keep them in protected areas.
I clean up the leaves in late spring. Leave them everywhere until then.
