Inside Airplanes: Heavy Airbus Maintenance, Aircraft Junkyard | Engineering Documentary

00:07 Airplane Maintenance – Airbus in Individual Parts:
Commercial airliners – just like cars – have to get their technical inspections. Every five years airlines have to have its commercial fleet checked thoroughly. For this, the giants are completely dismantled. This time, a ten-year-old A340, the second largest passenger aircraft in the Airbus fleet, has to undergo its regular inspection.

20:22 Aircraft Parts from the Junkyard:
Even the most modern aircraft contain used parts, scrapped from old planes that have been grounded. But how safe are used parts from the junkyard? Can we still fly safely, without fear?

  2. 22:00 onward. I would rather have a part that has been tested for 20,000 hours rather than a brand new part that hasn't been tested. Put me in an old plane with old parts; how do you think this 732 got so old?

  3. The junkyard for the planes has such a lower working standard and I’m not a big fan that strap and that piece of wood I instantly knew that strap is going to break because they didn’t use anything to guard it from the sharp edge

  4. Maybe i'm just an avnerd, but it bugs me when they call brakes, they show him pressing the pack control for the air conditioning system, and for the engine inlet and exhaust clear check (not even a normal call in standard operation although in this test environment I could understand why it would be used) they show him testing the fire warning lights.

  5. The narrator female can't even speak English properly, just listen to her mangle the script.. 3:05 "Hydraulic" ? 3:15 "The plane has now horizontally" ?? 3:21 "The machine must be far up raised 20 feet " ? Jesus, it just gets worse after that, who employed her because she's useless !

  6. "I've got to remember how I climbed in, so I can climb back out."

He's got a tracer line attached to him, you drama twats! 😂
You literally just have to follow that line back out!
    DOOIIIII😂😂😂

  7. I have finished my service under A300s A310 A320 -200classic and Neo 319 321 B737 200 series and Avro 748 and sometime under Fokker Friendship for thirty more years at major maintenance overhaul shop and line maintaince as aircraft technician satisfied but dreams are coming working at line maintaince LM-03 what to do please help me . How do I get pleasant sleep friendzzzz. God bless you all

  8. I never knew they used old used parts on new aircraft’s 😳 but I suppose the tests are stringent so I’m on with that.
    Great work guys

  9. Using used parts is really advantaggius for customer to get cheaper ticket. This method also widely use by air force to keep certain model flying without bothered manufacture to makes production line again ( save money )

  11. Ellis has been dismantling aircraft for years but doesn't know what a VHF Comm aerial is? Also, the screws should always be renewed so no point keeping them unless you're selling to a really cheap outfit.

  12. To the guys looking around in the plane fuel tanks and wings should drag a rope in with him and log enough that the entire length is outside the wing, this way he can get back out with ease. We firefighters do this when we are doing a search and rescue without the firehose!
