  1. 2:24 If zwift or VR can ever match that, maybe, maybe, I'll consider moving a bunch of my training indoors. Hope the kids like their run and that exquisite sunrise.

Besides the views, one other huge downside is the monotony of treadmill… I like trails cause they keep my gait varied and involve more and different muscle groups, extra stabilization, adjusting for obstacles, hills (maybe smart treadmill can do the hills at least).

  2. The steps per minute about 165 during the race, would you say that is accurate for you? seems low in that kind of pace you held.

  3. It will be an option, an add on, to the running comunity.
But a vast majority of runners love running outdoors, because it's outdoors.
In a lockdown, bunkers, jails, prolonged indoor work situations, and the like, its a great option.
And the online competitions are fun.

  4. Nice review! I'm running on zwift for a while now, but can't go as fast as you! (added you though 🙂 ) Too bad for the race but the leader was Julien guyon he is quite famous in the Zwift world and a very fast runner…
Using runn will show the belt speed, might also be you would need a calibration if the speed isn't accurate. I use a Stryd for speed and cadence which I also use for outside, so my speed is identical indoors and outdoors, regardless of the belt speed.
The race you took part is from the Running League so it's in fact a group of races over a few weeks 🙂
And should you be racing more often, you can opt in to ZwiftPower which will provide official results for all events you join. Some races will require to have a HR monitor linked to Zwift.
Hopefully will be able to have a run with you one day! 🙂

  5. That matches my opinion on Zwift, too. Treadmills can feel deadly boring & this is better than that–but they're missing something about the game of running. I ran a half this morning and the most fun part is deciding if I should pass someone. Forced exactly even splits, they feel harder than variable splits & there won't be much passing.

  6. Honestly like the look of this. Good for those days when you don't have so much motivation.. also here in the north of Sweden I'm dealing with minus 20 most days during peak winter which, while sometimes fun,.sometimes definitely isn't.

  7. so does any treadmill can be used with this zwift? thanks for the nice video

  8. This is a great way to make indoor running fun but as you said, it will never compare to beautiful sights outside

  9. I can see a plethora of ways you can cheat in a game like this, but hopefully those players are playing other games. 😀 Apart from that it can surely make your indoor sessions a bit less boring.

  10. Cool! I’d love to give this a try on my treadmill. This is what I imagine in my head when people talk about “virtual running.”

It would be great to see them bring a virtual version of some of the big marathons to zwift.

  11. I have lots of experience with Zwift cycling, the program is good on rainy days like today, actually road on the trainer today. The program will not replace the joys of running or riding outside

  12. cheating in a virtual running race XDDDDD takes a specific individual to do that

  13. I have terrible allergies so even despite my experience in running (15:58 for the 5k) I have to do most of my runs inside on a treadmill. This seems like an interesting thing, end even if it won’t replace good times with my team it’s a cool way to keep up my easy running during the spring and fall.

  14. I can't beleive im getting interested in a video game haha:). I'd love to see you and an average runner do the treadmill test like the one that magnus midtbo tried in his channel. Would be really fun to see how a runner would do compared to the norwegian military 🙂

  15. This was really enjoyable! I’ve been curious about how these systems work for running and you answered all my questions. 💪

  16. My wife has been asking me what I would like for Christmas, I've been thinking about the zwift treadmil sensor. Can't believe you put this video out! Let's see what santa brings me !!

  17. Nice Video Göran, i love running outside in the nature but i also like to running on a threadmill
    and watch Netflix 😂
Pls make a roomtour of your small gym

  18. Dude you're running 15kph at 75bpm … HOW! I just started running about 6 weeks ago and I "run" like 6kph at 130bpm LOL Man I have a lot of progress to make in this sport 💪💪

  19. I just got a new-to-me treadmill. I'm very excited. I prefer running outside, but I think it'll be extremely convenient when the weather is really bad, for doubles, etc.

  20. As usual, a really informative, high quality video! Thank you.

Annoyingly I don’t have a treadmill, although dreaming of one in our workshop-future-workout-studio-yet-to-be-transformed.

But am rowing a Zwift runner avatar almost daily, and love what the Zwift environment provides. It also helps connect me to a fabulous runner community (ZLDR) that helps keep me rowing.

(And then I’m running in real life outside)

  21. I run and use my VR headset regularly for aerobic exercise but never really for running. Games like Thrill of the Fight, Synth Riders, Pistol Whip, Beat Saber, etc., let me get a good HR going for a while without stepping foot on a dreadmill..

  22. what i dont get is, we have super graphics in all racing games. perfect copies of cities. why does zwift have such crappy graphics? its just unnecessary.

  23. What's the nice thing about running, its we could experience nature, and meet other people's. It's would be different with VR

  24. Nice video man ! Could you be so kind to share the name of the device you are using on the treadmill to check the speed of it please ?
