When I had to "sulphur" it was after work when everyone was gone and we did the greenhouse with two people (not always with proper protection) They do it with a robot these days
In Michigan we call that sleet or freezing rain.
Maybe the product states use at night to avoid direct sunlight … that would be my guess
The stomata are open usually when photosynthesis is occurring ie during the day. The sulphur residue WILL BLOCK the stomata if you do it in the day. You are going to have a repeat of all the problems you had after using the smoke bombs đ€š
I live in a desert so I'm not allowed to dislike rain, even when it's inconvenient. đ
I'm glad I listened to the very end. Belly dancers!
I canât remember what my father used nicotine for but it was used in his greenhouse to kill offsomething there. That might be something to look into.
I call them divas!!!!
Stay cozy y warm! This too shall pass! N. America is in the throes of widespread winter weather…just think some of it has blown your
way.
I been reading about sulfur fumigating. It seems to always leave the residue. Canât wait until you use it so we can see the results. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Roger
Well done for Bonzai YEA!!!!! Hot air rises thus when it cools it will sink down to the floor. I would wait till it warms up and less humidity as this will condence the vapour into a liquid which will settle on your leaves, at least that's the way I see it. I have also read that the list of nutrients for feed is actually n – p – k – s. Sulphur in feed is added as a macro nutrient but from what I see its is very small amounts. Epson salt is a known form of sulfur used fr orchids but I saw no improvement in the recommended use. also seen Sulphur defficiency shows up on young leaf as like burn or die back but can be confused with other known symptoms. Sulphur has also been used as a dust on infected plants but I did not find a lot of support for this method. Confusing isn't it.
From google Burning sulfur
When sulfur is burned, it turns into a gas called sulfur dioxide. The gas can mix with moisture on plants to form an acid that can damage plant leaves. Breathing the gas can be harmful to human health.
A possible reason for doing the sulphur treatment at night is to avoid sulphur dioxide formation. Sulphur vapour in air can oxidize to sulphur dioxide if the reaction is activated by sunlight. Sulphur dioxide reacts with water to form sulphurous acid, which could cause all sorts of problems. A residue of sulphur is likely on all surfaces including plant leaves however you do it; the cooler the surface, the more residue will form on it. Sulphur powder has been used as a fungicide and I guess that this treatment will also kill some of the fungi present as well. It has been quite recently discovered that some plants can produce microscopic sulphur grains in cells around the site of an infection as a way of stopping the fungus, but I don't think orchids are able to do this.
Looks Beautiful,thank you for sharing
Have you given any thought to maybe using bubble wrap on your Conservatory.
It would be interesting on your bonsai channel to find out what (if anything) you do for your trees in this massive rain. Do you move them? Do your pots flood? Maybe those that are repotted drain, do those in other media drain properly? Just wonderingâŠ
You are most IMPORTANT. Keep YOURSELF WARM .â€
