  1. Interesting info and I see what he is saying.
Am I to believe that if I deep mulch in the fall when the trees have lost there leaves the ground has not frozen solid and the mulch is good enough to keep the ground from freezing around the roots, and deep water under the mulch that I can expect root growth and development all winter? Then in the spring remove most of the mulch and I will have a stronger and better plant that will be a more vigorous in the spring and summer when temperatures start to rise and frost is gone to produce more on the bush or tree, if they are a Berry tree or say an Apple tree ,ect ect???
I'm thinking like 2 feet of mulch for the late fall, winter and early spring then remove to aprox 3 inches of cover.
    Thx

  2. I love Pavlis..he is brilliant. I planted two apple trees and a peach tree back in early November and we'll see how they turn out in the spring. Great information Greg as always. Thanks.

  3. Oh thanks for this – I'm trying to grow a mini-orchard (like 3 trees) and I have no idea how to prune them into an espalier without killing them. Hope to see more on this topic over the winter because next spring I'm taking the pruning shears and doing some damage 🙂 (Watching from St. John's, NL)
