This week Iwan was left to look after the homestead, but his plans to get lots done was hampered by all the rain we’ve been having. The rain is great for refilling our wells and bringing us out of the drought we’ve had all year, but does stop us moving forward with some of our projects, we’re always battling with the weather! A calm and cosy week with a few unexpected turns.

Beijinos e abraços,
Carissa, Iwan, Frankie & Albi

Carissa, Iwan & Frankie decided one night over a bottle of wine that moving from North Wales to Portugal would be a good idea. Within a month they were on the road to Portugal to find the perfect piece of land to call their new home. We picked up Albi the cat along the way. Subscribe to follow our journey as we turn an old stone barn into our home, and learn the ropes of looking after a piece of land to make an abundant garden and one day, our very own winery.

  1. Your home is looking so cosy now. Love the recipe Im going to go and try it even though you said you haven’t perfected it yet. Really looks 😋

  2. You could still use the bottle corker if you reinforce the cracked body, I have a plastic one which isn’t half as nice but very useful. Loved the music❤️

  3. 16:08 So I believe those wooden bits are a Bung. This is used to aerate a wine barrel, or allow air in when pouring. When not in use, it can be plugged. The fun bit is that the hole the bits go into is called a Bung Hole. When installed into the side of an upright barrel, it's called a Belly Bung. When installed at the top, a Head Bung.

  4. Welsh rarebit nearly Ewan. Your little home is now looking so cosy with your growing fur family. A joy to watch. As always I enjoy it when you both get together with Andrea and Nick. Looking forward to seeing your Nadolig Llawen video ! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

  5. Great! Is the rain cold or warm? Your home is looking so good now! Sorry about that tree! Maybe you can replant a fast growing tree for shade. Great name for your cat! Hugs

  6. There are several channels of people who have relocated to Portugal. This is one of my favorites. You have a very small space and it's very simple and functional. The flowers in the garden light up the property. You usually have good jazz music in your videos. Love seeing your menagerie all bundled up together. Most of all your love for the life you've chosen. Thanks for bringing me along.

  7. That wood thing is an old device to insert the corks in the wine bottles. No levers back in the day, just pure muscle power 😅

  8. It's a shame you had too cut down that tree!! It looke like something out of a Harry Potter movie!!

  9. Did I see a beautiful new cooker? What a surprise! Smashing!
Your tiled floor looks so good. What a super place you have there. It's all come together so well.
You have the best music 🎶 of any YouTube channel. It makes your videos so relaxing to watch.
Thank you both for another lovely video.

  10. Cool those toasted cheese buns looked awesome, now next recipe a bacon butty, farm is looking awesome after the rain 😁🙋‍♀️

  11. WELL HALLELUJAH FOR BLUETTI STEPPING UP !! WE WORRY ABOUT YA ALL, LIKE UNCLE NICK AND ANDREA. SHELTER, POWER, WATER AND HEAT ARE NECESSITIES FOR ANYONE. AND MORE WATER CATCHMENT CONTAINERS… WOOHOO… CONGRATS. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

  12. Luckily that tree did not bring down your beautiful wall.. even the table survived.. but sadly the wall came down after all… yet It opened up the space beautifully

  13. Those Iberian Magpies were lovely, it was great to see them properly.

You must both be delighted to have the opportunity to practice your drystone wall skills on the newly fallen section where the head-banging Mimosa was. (heavily tongue in cheek)

  14. Your garden is looking lovely! It's so nice to see your winter veg spring up nicely, and lots of flowers. You guys and your furry family look warm and cosy😊

  15. I just love your videos. I love the music you choose, the beautiful scenery, the vegetation, and the animals on your property. The time lapsed videos of clouds and sunset are beautiful. I copied your recipe down, and I’m going to try it myself. Nick and Andrea are such good friends aren’t they? I see them helping you and Cindy and a couple of their neighbors. Have a lovely weekend.
