I’m not an expert, I’m just some person with a garden. Thanks for visiting the Freshcutky organic gardening channel. This channel focuses on my journey, as I work to build my own cut flower farm. In the garden, I will answer some of the most common “gardening for beginners” type questions I get, including growing flowers from seed. Growing greens and planting beautiful organic food is something I’m really passionate about. Thank you for joining me as I learn to grow flowers, vegetables, and more.

Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

What is “@freshcutky”?
@freshcutky documents the pursuit of my goal of one day owning my own cut flower farm. Along the way, you’ll see random projects, cooking, and of course – growing stuff. I’m not an expert, and would never claim to be. There’s always more to learn – this is my journey. The purpose of my blog, and other social media accounts (including YouTube) is to share ideas. I do my best to offer information that is useful, but reliance on that information is strictly at your own risk and NOT a substitute for professional advice of any kind. I do not create sponsored content or use affiliate links unless they have been explicitly stated above.

I built something similar around 8 years ago and was only 20ft by 10ft I used thicker PVC pipe and it was ok in the wind, but collapsed 5 times with the snow which eventually ruined the pipe and plastic, Your pipework is much thinner, I think it would be fine in the summer, not so sure about winters, I don't know how they are there with you, In the UK that wouldn't last the winds, rain or snow. Please don't take offence at my comment, It's not meant to cheese you off or put down what you built at all, Just merely sharing my experiences with a stronger smaller frame than yours. I ended up building a 34ft by 14ft hoop house with scaffolding pipe for the sides and PVC just for the hoop over the top, I have had this for 6 years with no issues and it holds the snow too. I hope that this works well for you though. Like I said you may not get winters like we get and it may well serve you well. Tony
OMG OMG IM SO PROUD FOR YOU!!! Literally proud like you were my daughter.
Hope it lasts a while. And hope ya dont have to go out and scrape snow.again ….see explanation below.
I bought a metal frame at a garage sale for 10.00 with a large strawberry barrel that took so much soil it was ridiculous. I ended up buying a replacement cover thats too big for it AND CAME.WITH A METAL FRAME…I DID NOT PUT UP…YET..im gonna make one into.a.shade hoop house …someday. when it rains it pools up on it bad…and i go inside and poke it upwards..MAYBE U CAN DO THAT WITH THR SNOW…INSTRAD OF BEING OUTSIDE IN IT..LOL
Btw I've neen watching a rose guy who made a huge wonderful rose.arch out of thr top pipe used in chainlink fencing..his method could EASILY be used for a hoop house…if one was brave…and IM TOO OLD TO BE BRAVE…
I FOUND HIM CAUSE I WAS LOOKING TO SEE IF U REALLY COULD START ROSE SEEDS…HE DOES…CHECK HIM OUT…U TWO COULD PARTNER YOUR CHANNELS…INTERVIEW HIM LIKE YOU TUBE SAYS TO DO TO INCREASE VIEWERS..
So proud for you.
That's awesome.
I think you did very well especially doing it alone, even small tents are sometimes hard to get on your own. I think it will serve it's purpose. Are your winters mild? Here we don't have winter really but the wind would have it's way with the hoop house. ; ) Will it hold up in the snow if you have it? Although, really it doesn't matter, you built what you could with what you could afford and it will be perfect.
Well done! A tip on the plastic – I was at my specialist horticulture supplier getting mini tube pots and I spied a heap of greenhouse plastic off cuts for tons cheaper than normal. I didn't need it at the time so didn't buy it but I had a look at it – it's amazing stuff. Really thick and apparently lasts for YEARS outside due to its UV resistance etc. You'd probably find a similar thing at a greenhouse/hort store too. Who cares if you get a few sheets and join them up – the real deal is amazing plastic! Seeing this, I think I'll go back and get some of it actually…
Could u tell us what state u r in? And zone Plse. ?
Not many people would have the kahunas to attempt making anything like this. You did it & you’ve been growing amazing flowers all these years ! 👏 🌸
You did good. You should see the arbor I built with thrown away boards and a rusty saw. Lol It leans a little but it held up watermelons, tomatoes, and cucumbers last year. Like you I had to do it by myself.
I'm so glad YouTube just put this in my face 👍🏻😊. #1 what an amazing sense of accomplishment this must have given you. 💪 I'm super impressed and feel like I might even be able to do this some day. #2 It was so good to see the wonderful person that belongs to the voice 😊💐 What an inspiring video. Love to know what else you have created and if you have any future DIYs ?
💪🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Oh.. This isn't a tutorial?!? ✅
You are amazing and did a great job! I saw you sawing and I have worked with PVC and used a racheted pipe cutter. They are cheap and cut fast.
That's a fine hoophouse and don't let anyone tell you any different.
Thanks!
My husband just gave me the green light so I'm getting ready to build my first hoophouse (yay! 👏) so I can get a longer season out of the ranunculid before it gets too hot, & so I can get a head start on a few thing like lisianthus, snaps, etc. BTW, I can't remember if I've told you this before or not but your dimples are absolutely adorable!!!
