Another fantastic piece of info hereš thank you very much. Damien gardening channel from Ireland
Fortunately, I've been able to keep my big 4 stem one in a huge pot and can drag into a greenhouse. This is possibly the last winter, though, as it was a struggle this year.
Loving the new bids with the background
They are fairly cheap to replace .
Good video Kris! Zone five which would require tremendous protection just for rhizome survival. live in Western New York, and thatās zone 6a. Youāre absolutely correct that the northern continental climates will always require protection. Iāve never had a winter that the temperature didnāt get down to at least 10°F for a really warm winter, so I just chop them back and mulch the plants heavily.
In zone 7b such as Raleigh North Carolina, they donāt need to protect Musa basjoo at all. Zone 8 in America would be probably similar, at least in winter, to the coast or maybe a city center based on what you described. During summer, zone 8 regularly gets well over 90°F from June through September!
Another great video kris you have been my go too guy for information and inspiration !! ever since I started my jungle garden 3 years ago. Thank you šš
I have 6 Banana plants in Big containers which I bring into my basement for over the winter months. I'm in Sheffield so not to far from you.
Can I use the leaves I have cut off as ground protection for my musa basjoos, and then straw and fleece xx
