We spent the morning with Tina Kummerle of @highlandspringsranch @123farmorganics and she shares with us how to harvest lavender for culinary use:
-When lavender is flowering at about 50%, use a sickle and cut a big bunch at the base of the stems.
-Tie and hang upside down in a dry, dark place for 3-4 days until dry.
-Shake the dry buds over a 5 gallon container so they fall into it.
-Store in an airtight, dark container for up to 1-2 years.
.
This weekend is their final weekend of the 14th Annual Lavender Festival happening today through Sunday in Cherry Valley, CA. If you’re in So Cal, check it out! More info at hsresort.com.
