This useful tool is nothing new for people, that have been outside with a ghillie suit before. But for some people it is not self explaining to bring gardener scissors to the field.
This helpful tool is sure quite less universal than a knife. But if you want to cut vegetation fast and often, then you want to use one of these. Or why should gardeners use these, if they are not the correct tool? 😉
Additionally to this garden shears can be used to cut tunnels into thick foliage. With a saw or a knife you would need to make fast movements and cause the bushes to move. With garden shears you can cut a branch and move it out of the way super low, without being detected by a possible observer.
And no, I am not a sniper. Just a random crazy dude.

Never bring your dog with you when you are on a sniping mission.
I also take a pair of these when I'm bow hunting. I hunt out of a saddle and a lot of times I need to trim small stuff in the tree to have better shooting lanes
Brilliant idea.
Anyone whose been to the Special Forces sniper school (SOTIC) at Bragg knows this…..what u need to know is the formula for loop hole shooting and understand why its designed that way
Do it for deer and turkey hunting.
Secateurs
gardening is great for calming down so they can take more precise shots
The Australian SAS used garden shears in Vietnam, they found them for the jungle vines, rather than a machete which made too much noise.
Great, now some company is going to make a $5,000 "tactical" garden shear.
I've used fiskars hardware sheers to cut a path thru thorns so I can traverse contours instead of climbing up and down steep hills and using trees to pull myself up. The gardening sheers work, but hardware sheers are tougher. Also good for cutting off squirrel paws.
Hear the ratcheting kind work best.
Thought it was for when they cut their cigar after eliminating a commie officer.
Quiet. Camo. Best way to stalk hunt too.
If you don't know this answer, you're too dumb to understand anyway.
snipers are extremely keen on gardening ?
To trim their nails between pissing and crapping in bags.
Nice! Thanks!
What make/model shears you using there?
I go hiking through thick brush a LOT. My number one tool is pruners. I'll take them over anything else. The ones I carry are Felco F13.
.
Normal Australian Infantry use them in the bush / Jungle.
Its less noise less energy used . I don't know how long we used them but I joined in 91 and they were standard use in the field.
We had machetes but hardly used them.
