Love it
It is definitely working. I love color. It defines my paintings, too. And color doesn't need to be the expected color. I think it's better when it isn't the expected. You usually put some bright color in your work just because you feel like it. That's tiggerific.
Beautiful.💗 Thanks, Kristy. I had a weird idea that I knew only I would love. I am proud of how it turned out and hope I have some more weird ideas soon.
Lol! That's me. I come up with ideas but can't execute it to my satisfaction.
It's awesome!!
Being brave is hard. I love your courage. It is beautiful
I am happy to see someone be free with their art I would buy this because it makes me smile!
I love the colors en depth!
That is one of the best paintings I have seen you do!
I love this!! Definitely do weird stuff just for ourselves that we just play to play and no one has to see. I recently started one color palette 🎨 It's reds after the red rock of Moab..
Just beautyfull
I love this painting. I am like that about leaves. I will pick up random leaves and do weird things with them. I think this is awesome.

Looks awesome! Wish I could come up with these “weird” ideas!
I love it! Living in the Sonoran desert (Phoenix metro area) where we average 9” of rain a year. I look for the colors out in the desert. Prickly Pear cactus comes with magenta fruit and flower, or yellow fruit and flowers, the paddles of the cactus come in dark green (the young edible ones) a gray green and purple. But what people don’t realize is that there are shapes, colors, and beauty throughout the year. Even when it’s 115° out. I love abstract art and I had never thought of our desert as being beautiful for abstract. I need to rethink how I look at surroundings
I think it is beautiful Kristy 🙂
I really like the painting! I would put it on my wall x
I love learning about the backstory of what inspired an artist to create something different and not the norm. It adds to the specialness of the piece. Not every experiment works, true. However, how are you going to know if it does or not unless you try. 🙂 I like this piece you created.
Very inspirational!

I saw the title of this and laughed! I was up all night last night, mixing handmade granulating colors with Chinese real gold and silver ink, making so many different colors with different effects..I had to open a new palette and order another one. But…there was a method to my madness..I had an idea in my head for a picture I wanted to paint was & was trying to mix the exact colors with the exact effect I wanted…not based on anything I’ve seen really…although the very last finishing touch I saw of an old 12yr old tutorial I saw weeks ago..my best friend came by to check on me this morning because she couldn’t reach me. “OH SHT! I should have known..LOOK at your kitchen!! Part Mad scientist, part severe old lady ADD, part beginner painter who…WTF, DON’T tell me you’re painting with BLOOD NOW?!!?” 😂 NO, it is NOT “blood”; it’s a combination of a few heavily granulating handmade paints that LOOKS like blood, purposely!😂 I was actually preparing and sketching out 2 paintings, one, kind of an abstract that will depict blood, water, bone, the earth and heart function. (You can take the girl out of medicine; but you can’t take medicine out of the girl…ok, that didn’t sound as good as I thought it would, but hopefully you get the point! 🤷🏼♀️); the other is a painting with all 3 of my children’s “birth animals”, done in Chinese traditional style..kind of…with a rooster and rabbit gazing up at a horse in heaven/the clouds (my precious late son who got me into Chinese painting over 7yrs ago)…and the girls (rooster & rabbit) are on a beach.
I started both paintings and also did some Chinese calligraphy to give away as Christmas presents. I have some other “strange” ideas..my best friend was shocked, mainly because the majority of student painters in China spend many years copying the works of Masters before going out and developing their own style. I’m a realist; I don’t HAVE years; between failing vision, health and just my age…I got ideas and by George, I’m going to find a way to get them on paper! 😁
Your imagination is so amazing to me!
I live in Phoenix AZ and I am so inspired by Prickly Pears! I’ve painted some trippy hot pink and purple ones… and I think about painting them all the time. I love them! Doesn’t hurt that I see them everywhere every day lol!
It’s got a 60’s -70’s vibe. Love it!
New podcast material Paint Talk 101… no attempt is ever wasted…BRILLIANT.
Straight up gorgeous. Thank you.
I love your work
Oh my gosh, I think this is Absolutely Beautiful!
LOVE it!❤❤❤
Love this "weird" painting! Your colors are vibrant and beautiful to the eye! Keep being "weird"! It's brilliant!
Ok. I LOVE THIS!
Beautiful painting Kristy!!!!!
Fantastic!
I LOVE this! So bright and fun and full of dimension!
Oh wow 😮 I really appreciate & love your weird idea painting. It was a wonderful & refreshing change of pace for me. I love 💕 the colors chosen, the cactus subject & the hiking 🥾 adventure that you shared! Thanks so much for the wonderful fun time with this! ❤😊
I thought your idea was great! I love how it turned out. Andy Warhol made a career out of being odd. Jackson Pollock's work is considered weird by some. I'm sure there are many more. I enjoy the weird. Please share more of these!
Thank you for talking about trying something different!! It’s a wonderful idea!
