You should try Aska Lamen, it's very much japanese-y Lamen restaurant,
The rate on Google may be lower than Kazu, but just because of the cultural differences. Aska is that really tradicional lamen house where you sit, eat and leave, but Brazilians are not used to it (we like to stay sit a little longer, grab a beer, chat with friends – just like people do in pubs), so Brazilian people that doesn't understand the tradicional lamen shop culture in japan tend to think Aska is rude to clients because of this
My favorite lamen in the city is the Tamashi, near Fradique Coutinho Station =) and Lamen Kazu is at the other side of the street…. There is Lamen Kazu at one side and Espaço Kazu at the other. The restaurant that appear in the video it's not the Lamen Kazu (in the video at least)
Liberdade neighborhood used to be like a "japanese town" in the past, since japaneses are here in Brazil much longer, but lately koreans and mainly chineses have occupied Liberdade and japaneses have spreaded out São Paulo.
In the past in Bairro da Liberdade, there are only japanese people and nissei, sansei, japanese food e shops, but many this person were to Japan for job, so corean and chinese in imigration took some parts of Liberty Town, I am married with nissey woman and I like Japan food and culture, sometimes we go Bairro da Liberdade, there is a bookstore there call Fonomag, they have almost all books e mangas in japanese language. Sorry my english not very good.
🇧🇷 When you mention BRAZIL, you are aware million brazilians will watch you in EVERY word you say; in every attitudes you take, right? So, be very careful because we know how to love greatly those who love us; and, in the same way, we know how to hate those who hate us. So far, WE LOVE YOU.🇧🇷❤🇯🇵 P.S- trust me: we brazilians are all over the world. We are all races; we do speak almost all languages you may know. Always there will be a brazilian citizen not far from you. From Alasca, Russia,Japan, USA, Denmark, Germany, etc, to Antarctica; yes, we are there.🇧🇷
Hello George! Curiously your video appeared in my recommendations. 🙂
São Paulo capital is where I was born, my father is japanese from Gifuken, and my mother is nissei, she was born in the south of Brazil, in Paraná State.
Some restaurants here in Brazil only open after 5 – 6PM, specially pizzerias, and it sounds weird for foreigner people. When my fiancé moved to Brazil (he is from USA), he thought the most of pizzeries and restaurants here were opened since morning lol…
I hope you are enjoying the travelling and all stuffs from here! 🙂
the japonese food in Brazil is amazing not only Sao Paulo if go in another states are good too. Brazil is a country are many different flavous are food is 10/10
One more follower in your channel! It's so great to see a tourist in our country enjoying every single Time and things that looks so familiar for them.
I think you realized, but nowadays Liberdade is not so much a "Japanese town" anymore… most of the commerce there is run by Chinese families now. But you can still find little authentic restaurants tucked away in the city 😅
Also, if you want to try lamen I would recommend Ikkousha (very thick broth, but tasty) or Tonkotsu Barikote Ramen Maru (tiny shop but nice lamen) as well.
Idk if fellow Brazilians are gonna agree with me but you lowkey look like Rodrigo Faro (some of your features)… He’s a Brazilian (of Mediterranean ancestry if I’m not mistaken) TV host and actor! Also he is a Dominó’s former member (biggest Brazilian boy band ever created)! Ngl not saying you both look identical but when I looked at you I thought about him at the same time!
One important thing to point out is even though the number of Japanese in Liberdade is decreasing and other Asian cultures are appearing, I think this isn't happening because of a total decrease in the Japanese community in Brazil but because the Japanese are spreading to the rest of the country, last year I saw data from Japan and from Brazil showing that the Brazilian Japanese community is growing much more than expected, strangely here in Amazonas where I live is one of the largest numbers of Japanese from Brazil (and where was one of the first places to receive Japanese immigrants more than 100 years ago), our airport used to even have a big Torii and a lake full of carp and turtles, but they took it out during the renovation :
Hi George. This video came up in my feed and it was the first time I had seen one of your videos. I was a bit disappointed with this video because you seem to be disappointed with Liberdade. I am an American living in the countryside of Sao Paulo for many years and I LOVE Liberdade…Japantown as you keep saying. You must have been here on a Monday or Tuesday, which is not the time to visit Liberdade. Yes, the Japanese Garden has seen better days but, due to the pandemic, it was neglected. I hope they bring it back to the glory it once was. You really must go back to Liberdade on a Saturday or Sunday when the Feira da Liberdade is there. Not only is there a very big outdoor arts & crafts market but also a food market with many stalls selling typical Japanese street food. It is also VERY crowded so go early. I am sorry that you did not even use the name of the Barrio – Liberdade – which, yes, is Japan Town but also means Freedom/Liberty. This is a very Asian part of town with the world's largest ethnic Japanese community outside Japan. But also many Chinese and Korean restaurants. Because this video was short, I hope you got a chance to visit many of the stores selling Japanese products and food. If you are still in SP, try to visit Bom Retiro, which has a growing Korean community with many Korean BBQ restaurants. Also, hit Vila Madelena to see Beco de Batman, an alley filled with the most amazing street. But, go on the weekend to really experience it. Next time you are in SP, please let me know because I would love to show you around MY SP. Oh, yes, Kazu is an amazing Japanese restaurant and, if you get to go, make sure you go upstairs to their cafe/bakery. Totally crazy awesome!

Welcome to São Paulo, Brazil
Liberdade started as a japanese neighborhood but nowadays it is mostly southeast asian people, not only japanese
As a matter of fact you missed the right KAZU restaurant! Ramen Kazu is just the opposite side of the street! almost in front of ESPAÇO KAZU🙂
So cool to see you walking in a region that i visited so many times hahaha Ramen Kazu is indeed, very good! I love it 🙂

There are two Kazu restaurants, one is a general japanese food restaurant, Espaço Kazu, and the other is the specialized Lamen Kazu Restaurant
Welcome 🎉
I'm from Sao Paulo. My grandparents were japanese immigrants. If you want to greet local Brazilians try "Ew kay maro rose ca"
AWESOME 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I'm so happy you didn't get murdered. Thanks for risking your life to make this content.
Come and try Tojo's in Vancouver, Canada. He created the California roll (his is called Tojo roll) and serves up omakase.
Is it really that good? I mean you're from Japan right? Surely nothing can beat the local taste?
Brasil needs more Asian blood.
Biggest Japanese colony 😊
The Food looked Sooo Good. 🤤🤤
Great video!
ラーメンかずは、あまり美味しくないよ。それよりも、同じ通りにある一幸舎の方がよっぽど美味しい。
Try go to JOJO Ramen in Sao Paulo, one of the best.

You should visit this area on sunday
That was Espaço Kazu, not lamen Kazu, they are different… Lamen Kazu is actually right across the street
