Ben, overcollateralized means you have more than 100% collateral value against a loan. For example you lock 15 ETH to borrow USDC that's only actually worth 10 ETH (150% collateralized, 0.66x leverage). SBF was DEFENDING the trades, he was saying "everything was EXTRA safe at first! and then the market went against us, so that extra padding evaporated – bad stroke of luck!". Nitpick, but an important distinction — overcollateralization is actually underleverage. It's an absurd defense because anyone in crypto knows how volatile it is, and how quickly crypto-collateral can erode value and put you at liquidation risk. For him to act like anything was safe or reasonable, even with overcollateralization (with FTT tokens) is a friggin' joke. There's no defense. Actual lack of basic credit risk & crypto market competency that persists to this very day — or, criminal negligence/fraud. I think it's obvious.
