🥰 Hi beautiful people 🥰

🎥 If you’re looking for a book recommendation that will teach you how to forage in urban spaces, then you should check out “The Edible City: A Year of Wild Food” by John Rensten. This book covers everything you need to know about foraging and gathering edibles in urban environments.

📗 This book it’s about living, working and foraging in London. It’d taken about a year to come together and it’s a mixture of essays about foraging and why we should go foraging and recipes and some beautiful illustrations as well.

❤️ I love this book because it has detailed recipes for wild edible plants that you can find in the city.

🚶🏻‍♂️ This is not really written as a traditional foraging guide. It’s more an introduction to what John did and the kind of walks he run. It’s an invitation to join him on his journey.

• Joh’s trying to suggest that foraging in an urban environment is a very normal thing to do as opposed to us needing to live in cities and then escape to the countryside, and that the countryside is actually all around us.

• He’s trying to reframe big cities as places that aren’t how we might have assumed they initially are. We’ve got this idea that city is dirty countryside is clean. He really doesn’t believe in that and doesn’t think that’s a way to look at it.

• With a little bit of research, you can find lots of fascinating urban green spaces that are probably right on your doorstep and you can go foraging there. You can pick wild food and learn about nature there. You can explore a different aspect of the city.

🤓 Jason Irving helped a lot with the botanical information because he’s an even bigger plant nerd than John and he was checking and cross-referencing everything.

🥘 I really enjoyed the book and my blog articles are heavily inspired with his recipes. I can’t wait for next year to try more of them.
