Creating a self-sufficient homestead in 5 months has been quite a challenge.
The seasons have been very wet with La Nina and it really got me thinking outside of the box.
I started by planting out pots, and building raised bale gardens and raised beds.
I also started planting perennial fruiting trees and a permaculture native forest.
So, what are my next steps?
To keep building out and maintaining what I have made so far and add the micro-farm.
Compost worms will be playing a huge role.
Please check out my list of videos as I have plenty of content in here for you to enjoy!
Happy Homesteading

I like being part of your YouTube life Mr Marty. Lovely to see how much progress you’ve made at your new home.
Fruit trees are so important as a step towards healthy self sufficiecy. I overlooked that and when living off the vegie garden i really missed the flavours and vitamin c!
Looking great😊
You have a real diverse selection of food growing.😀 I picked my first cherry tomatoes yesterday and it was so tasty. I'll let my raised bed settle bit more before adding my worms to it.
Gardens lookin good Marty! You are looking healthier n happier too!

Ghost chilis, or Habaneros
Glad to see Your garden is so happy after that crazy spring weather 👍
Your garden is coming along nicely, it’s exciting to create a new setup & watch it grow. Thanks for keeping me entertained over the long cold Canadian winter, it gives me hope for spring (in 5 months lol). We have a 80-90 maximum day frost free growing season & I can’t imagine what it would be like to be able to grow year around.
I cultivate some edible and/or medicinal "weeds," too. Curious what "Aussie bush foods" you're going to grow. 😊
Wow, what a fantastic change in your garden. Lots of food to feed you both. Congratulations. Blessings from South Australia ❤️
Fantastic productive garden Marty. Well done.
sweet. starting to happen.
hi I am in Adelaide and I got lots of chillis and just started to plant the Haberno's one, I also have a Scotch Bonnett bush, took me 2 years and last year was the first year I got lots of flowers and then got lots of Scotch bonnett chilis, I made hot scotch Bonnett curry sauce which is amazing.. love your channel thank you, and its good to finally follow someone from Austrailia, you and Self suffience me are helping me greatly.
I would love to know more about fertilizer and compost. My plants grow well but not fruiting much, and I think it’s because I don’t fertilize enough.
I grow Hawaiian chili. Not sure if you can get those in Australia, but we use them to make chili water, they are pretty spicy. I’m growing dwarf banana, papaya and a lot of herbs/veg.
