STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT!
On Wednesday 23rd November 2022 around 1:30 am, a silver fielder wagon reg. # PDX-4016 was stolen from the owner’s residence at #75 Debe trace, Debe.
• The footage shows a vehicle waiting on the suspect.
As parts of Trinidad were reportedly cut off due to flash and riverine flooding, Ministry gave an update on the emergency response:
• Speaking at a media conference, local government Minister Faris Al Rawi said as of this morning, there were 83 significant flooding events with 41 in direct control.
• He also reported 137 significant landslips and 31 fallen trees, some of which have already been addressed.
• The minister also said 11 out of the 14 regional corporations have been impacted by the recent adverse weather and subsequent flooding.
• Al-Rawi warned that while this morning’s high tide is currently receding, citizens need to remain alert.
• He also assured that once the situation improves, crews will be out in full force for clean-up operations.
With many parts of the country still submerged under water, several persons had to be evacuated from their homes over the weekend and today:
• Several communities across the Caroni, north Oropouche and Caparo river basins, prompted multiple high-water rescues and evacuations.
• Over the last two days, significant rainfall associated with the passage of a low-level trough triggered widespread street, flash and riverine flooding, landslides, and fallen trees, leaving no corner of T&T untouched.
• Evacuations occurred in madras, Santa Monica trace in Kelly village, Springland avenue, Valsayn south as well as Biche and Woodland.
• Some of the other affected areas are: Barrackpore, Blanchisseuse, Madras Road, St. Helena, Manzanilla, Caparo, South Oropouche, Gran Couva, Tabaquite road.
• Today, crews ventured into the treacherous areas in Aripo to restore the line. Full restoration of that line is expected by the end of today.
• Sixteen surface water treatment plants belonging to the water and sewerage authority (W.A.S.A) are still out of operation in Trinidad according to the minister of public utilities, Marvin Gonzales.
Minister of Education dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly said 52 schools across the country have been affected by this weekend’s inclement weather:
An 89-year-old woman perished in a house fire in Tunapuna on Sunday morning:
• The deceased has been identified as Zubida Mohammed of Prescott Lane in Tunapuna.
A St. James pensioner died in a vehicular accident in Cocorite early on Saturday 26TH November:
• The deceased has been identified as 62-year-old Carl Gill of providence estate, Upper Bournes Road, St James.
A Trincity man, who was one of the founding members of the single father’s association was discovered dead at his home on Friday morning:
• The deceased, identified as 58-year-old Dexter Mahadeo was found dead at #1 west pond St. Beaulieu gardens, Trincity on Friday 25th November.
St. Joseph and homicide detectives are probing an incident in which a man identified as “manicou”, was stabbed to death when he and two women allegedly attempted to rob a shop owner with a hammer yesterday morning.
