  1. A small rocket stove in a fireplace works well. I have the silverfire but there are cheaper alternatives.Cooking outdoors during extended grid down is an invitation to disaster. Those with no food will do anything for yours.

  2. Newbie question. While making my buckets of rice can u mix the types? I got like 28 pounds of jasmine rice. Can I mix the minute rice into it to finish out the last 4lbs? Will it mess anything up?

  3. Hybrid lights that’s great in a grid down. How do you plan to charge. Either solar or generators. Very expensive. Seem for many this won’t work.

  4. I love your channel. You are so willing to teach others. I knew you were going to ask us to turn off something if not everything. I’m all electric so I decided to not use electric for any cooking. For at least 1 week. This is going to be exciting. Thanks for all you do. 👍

  5. you can cut up a piece of non slip rug floor protector or non slip kitchen shelf vinyl mats to set under oil lamps to keep them from sliding or tipping over in possible mild earthquake or heavy equipment truck passing by, et. rumbles ☺️

  6. We keep our laundry soap containers that have the little push button spout. We fill them with water and leave the extra soap in it and use if our water goes out to wash dishes and hands.

  7. I'm sorry to say that a lot of your Amazon links have been taken down or are not found. I heard Amazon was going to start limiting preppers abilities.

  8. Why not tape a Ziploc bag with your batteries inside taped to the lantern. Then when you need them they're right there. When you finish using it pop them back in.

  9. How do you protect all your solar generators from the affects from an EMP like scenario? Faraday cages might work but keeping them in one big enough all the time seems difficult. Thanks

  10. do you have a suggested list of phone numbers we should have at the ready, written down, at a minimum?

  11. Hi,thank you for all your help,we have solar,we are off grid, and candles and lights, and have wood stoves.

  12. For a DIY, portable solar shower set up, check out ‘Boss of the Swamp’ on youtube. Using a food grade water container (car boy) painted black, you can fashion your own shower. I’ve done it myself, and it really works. I advise you to check the water temperature before you use it. The water gets hot enough to burn you. BE CAREFUL!

  13. I would hate to have to go carrying one of those "hats" full of urine through the house from the bathroom to the outside to the yard though! I would be afraid of having an icky spillage event.

  14. For things that need batteries, I use scotch tape and tape them to the outside of the lantern or flashlight. You could also put them in a snack baggie and then tape the baggie to them. No more looking for them.

  15. This is a great overview! Thanks for making the homework in an easy accessible area in the description. I hope to meet you guys someday. I live in Riverton.

  16. At a preparedness event a guy show how to cook in a haybox. He just used old towels and cooked a roast beef dinner and only used a few minutes of fuel. Some day I am going to build one of those.

  17. Love your channel and tips. People in my area go around and unplug EV cars at the malls to alleviate the strain on the power grid.

  18. Lighting is very bad. If things get bad, you want to have no lighting after dark, otherwise you will be a target.
