Hey Ya’ll! The 2020 Winter Solstice Backyard & Front yard Garden Tour is already here! Time has flown so fast lately trying to make more videos while balancing life. Most of the fruit trees have gone dormant or slowed down growing. But the vegetable garden is doing amazing! Winter is the time for growing vegetables in Florida so this is a very exciting time of year. The new baby chickens are almost full grown but it will still be 3 more months before they start laying eggs. The ducklings are growing fast as ever, living mostly outside now. Sometime in the Spring time when the ducks mature I will sell a good portion of my backyard birds to thin down the flock. Everything is really coming along and it really feels like a permaculture food forest to me. But there is always room for improvement, that’s what permaculture is all about. My Sister and I have been brainstorming about possibly adding a fire pit area with a huge addition fruit tree section some time this next year. I really want some of my trees (Avocado) to get a bit bigger first. I plan on placing this new fruit tree section in the middle of the backyard’s lawn. I’d probably do mostly small to medium sized fruit trees in it with maybe one larger tree like a guava. If I add this is should really start feeling like a food forest in the back. The front yard will take a long time for the trees to get big enough to seem like a small food forest.

Can’t believe your banana trees still looking good I’m in south GA and my banana trees died in the first frost 😭
Living in a residential area, should there be any concerns growing vegetables that you're going to eventually eat? And why do some people plant their garden in a elevated box? Is that to prevent any ground contamination getting to their plants from living near the city?
For the Ants did you try Borax mixed with sugar?
Three videos later and I'm wondering whether you're farming or gardening.
Its a beautiful home.
Thanks, I've really enjoyed your tour. You have a beautiful garden/farm going there. It excites me to see the variety you are able to grow. I'm an avid gardener from the Northwest originally and now live in Tucson, Arizona. (talk about tough gardening challenges between the predators and extreme weather) My gal friend moved to Hernando, Florida and has complained that she can't grow anything there. I have been frustrated with her at times because I imagined she would have many options in her spacious 3/4 acre yard. I am going to send her a link to your videos so that she can see what's possible. I've subscribed and am looking forward to your next video.
