  1. I got burned out a bit this year in my home garden, this is giving me some juice to start planning my 2023 Ohio garden.

  2. Thx for the udate!! What company do you buy your Veggie seed from? Are they all Heirloom or F1 Hybrid or Combo? Garden is looking Amazing for Florida!!! Strong work!

  3. I just moved and now I have to start growing some soil so I can pound dirt! Love your channel, Pete!!!

  4. Comment for Nick from an old chitinase brewer hehe.

I'll use trichoderma – as the white and green mold on fallen citrus (might be rare in Florida) and green mold on coffee grounds. I use this with some Lactobacillus I've brewed to break down chitin like lobstershell, fungi, etc. I also like to collect cicada exoskeletons for this brew, especially if there's entomopathogenic fungi growing on them – have a look, wee white threads – good score!

    Trichoderma scrapings
    Lactobacillus culture
Chitin source e.g. crustacean and/or insect shells
    Molasses (10% of liquid)
Water enough to make a slurry.

I used this as part of a soil blend. You might pot plants with such a thing in the soil. It will kick off plant's systemic acquired resistance nicely, so you might have pests but (hopefully) keep them below economic threshold – where the pests start to cost you and commercial growers get their spray kits out.

Someone's schooled you well. Gorgeous garden. I'm more about the food foresting these days, but love some good garden microbiology.

  5. We live in totally polar opposite Hardiness Zones and the fact that you guys grow during Winter seems so bizarre.

  6. Are you hand planting? Any tools you recommend using that make the garden look so clean and tidy?

  7. Pete…this is for Nick – check out worm castings to make tea BECAUSE the 'tea' contains high concentrations of chitinase. I make it using a fish tank air pump and 5 gallon 'homer' buckets. I combine both worm castings and alfalfa pellets in a mesh bag and let brew for 24 hours – works miracles – no pest problems. Nice looking garden Nick and Pete! Cheers…

  8. More lush every week! I'm looking forward to that spicy Asian salad mix. Thanks for the info on BT + chitosan (sp) + compost tea.

  9. Is there a clone of Nick Ager for me here in Algarve, Portugal? I have housing , etc.
Beautiful garden! More attractive than many ornamental gardens!

  10. Def agree about the soil health. I didn’t pay enough attention to that this year. Using more worm castings, compost teas, etc instead of just throwing down amendments.

  11. Pete your motto seems Go Big or go Home! Love what you are doing brother. Wow you seem to have landed an Ace for Nick.
    Wishing he had gone bigger!
Love his heal the soil first. Info on the bug approach is encouraging
Thank you for producing great foodand and joining Jim and the others in your area.
    Looking forward to the updates!

  12. Very impressive garden! It’s a ton of work and a lot of sweat that went into that! One question, how do you keep the deer out? Is this inside your tall, outer deer fencing?
