  1. Blackberry vines do well in Texas, but due have a tendency to send out runners far away from the mother plant. They do have some good thornless varieties now including Prime Ark Freedom, Ponca, and Sweetie pie that do well in zone's 8 and 9. It is usually too hot for raspberries in Texas, and blueberries require an acid soil with pH between 5.5 and 4.5. Most soils in Austin area is alkaline. An aphids can be killed by spraying a hard stream of water. It will knock them off and usually rupture their skin. You can also use one of the dish soap mixes, but make sure to use dish soap, not dish detergents. Dish detergents can injure the plants.
