Very nice your video dear friend
I need to do something like this. Maybe also need to tally how much fruit and veg and bouquets I get from my garden vs cost at the supermarket vs how much ive spent. Thanks for the great video as always 😊♥️💐🌻
I am starting to cut the plants down in my pots and loosening the rootball and chopping the plant and leaving it all in the pot and will also mix in leaves when they start to drop more. I also compost in place, any spent leaves and blooms during the season, I add right back into the pot. Sometimes I bury kitchen scraps in the pots, also. I am now buying less soil and fertilizer.
I have 1000 sqft area including my terracotta house. I do gardening both on land and pots. I specially doesn't need to buy soil but yes fertilizer + insecticide + pesticides then new new pots I keep on buying. I also go for soft media cocopeat blocks.
But the thing is I never tally how much did I spend on my garden though m a plants lover.
Eye opening video for me
I will make sure I keep a limit on my spendings 😇
Have a great day and keep gardening
thank you for being transparent and sharing these costs. definitely makes me think about where to invest vs, save/diy
That was a great breakdown and interesting, in my case I always spend more each year because I keep adding raise beds!🙈.
My tips to save money are to join a gardening club as this will open opportunities for you to swap seeds and extended knowledge of local suppliers for things like compost, farm manure e.g.
Awesome video Bethany…great honest video! Your costs will be waaaaaay lower next year. You had alot of one time costs! Its a great healthy hobby…and don't begrudge yourself spending a bit of money…its money well spent! Thank you for your videos!
Thank you for this video! You've inspired me to do this as well. I plan to start more plants from seeds next year. It's so hard when you walk into the garden center & see all the tempting ready to go plants!
Keep a gallon ziplock in your fridge for veggie scraps, coffee grounds, etc. When full I compact it and freeze it. When you need nitrogen you'll have a jump start. I'm lucky to have a extra freezer. I also freeze giant bags of coffee grounds I get from Dunkin. Nice to have when you need to get your compost heated up.
👍
Hello,Great information, I’m sure this information will help a lot of people who are interested in doing a container garden. It’s a little bit of a cost at first but overall I that’s affordable. Thank you
Such a helpful video! I need to show my husband this video to justify how much I spend on our balcony.. haha. It's true that it is an investment for the most part. Would love to see what cost saving measures you make over the next year and what I can also do for my small balcony. Also if you or anyone else has any tips on how to irrigate on a balcony without a tap would be much appreciated!
Great breakdown, LOVE it a lot. I think the reason why you feel like you not saving money in buying groceries by growing a garden it because you growing a little of everything and not focusing on what you mainly eat or spend on in the grocery shop. if you would've grown enough for storing/preserving, maybe you would've seen the benefits.
Watering is expensive too
