If you put compost on top and then put plastic tarp over it for a while it will keep it soft kill off grass and weeds then you'll have soft dirt to plant in. If it's going to be few months before you plant after a few weeks till in the compost put more on the top recover again and that will make it so you have looser deeper down because the compost will break up the clay. And then contact Jayson on how to make a big compost pile for all your needs. Being that you're doing a lot of pruning and have a lot of small branches and leaves it would be great for a compost pile along with leftovers old hay bedding and the stuff you clean out of the pens. You know the dirty stuff the animals drop.
Hey yall! Tell Miles he should watch little Adler on Chad's channel Adler Farms. Adler finds bones on their property and collects them. Some subscriber also sent him a box of different bones (turtle shells, antlers) they found in woods. Also, for outdoor kitties you can use an old cooler and cut a hole out (big enough for cats) and lay in some straw. Blankets tend to retain the cold. Straw will stay warm and dry. Excited for yall and your new journey!! ❤👍
Angie that rosebush will do good there with fertilizer and love. They used that Trellis for a swing I bet. Get that plastic out and mulch/compost and put it on top of that tilled up dirt. Keep going Wes you can do one more row real quick..
That tiller is a game changer, Angie you need to learn to do this. Is this the orchard or the garden area? That is going to take some work to get this ready for planting. That weed fabric works great. But their is ways you can soften the dirt and also kill the grass, compost and tarp.
Angie your trellis thingy looks like it was used for a porch swing bench! Just a guess by its shape. Wes, I forgot to congratulate you on your job approval! That's awesome!
Lol you guys talking about the weather and being cold how did you guys survive ft Wayne I live 8 miles from Michigan- Indiana border so I know the weather here
Now that's a nice tiller! Going to have some nicely tilled soil to work with! I also hope the rose takes off in the spring. I would like to see what color it is. I just love roses! I also have a climbing rose that I will need to relocate. It's currently growing up into one of my lilacs. 💖💖💖
Maybe you could cut a cane and root it out and plant it on the other end of your new trellis. You might even get several starts from it. Cog Hill Farm says it's easy to root out starts.
You guys are so funny going back and forth about whether or not it’s cold!! We woke up to -3 degrees here this morning, our high was 24, and right now it’s 12 degrees. It’s only supposed to get down to 3 degrees tonight. I’d rather walk barefoot in the snow than be out in the heat. We had record highs all Spring and Summer and boy did those triple digits about kill me! Boy Angie you did a lot of work today. I was waiting for that bubble to just burst and drench Wes but it did good. Y’all are going to have a wonderful homestead. I can’t wait to see all the gardens, orchard, and berry bushes! My Daddy planted blackberry bushes on his place on the Oregon coast and those blackberries went crazy growing everywhere. I can’t even count the number of starts he gave away! God bless you all and keep you safe ❤️🙏
Wes, you are always excited. It makes me smile all the time. Angie is lovely too. Thank you for sharing. Love and Blessings to you all. Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
I absolutely love your enthusiasm ❤ Wes. I think Miles is a chip off the old block. He always poor himself with a zest for life into any tasks he undertakes. Angie, your a women after my own heart when it comes to roses 🌹. When I was gardening, I even talked to them and invisioned how they would fill their space. Your family is a breath of fresh air. All working together ❤🙌. I'm so glad Lester and Jami drew attention to your channel. LOL from Carole and the kittens 😻😸.
Oh you definitely need an area for composting for the spring…you can do fast composting or normal or maybe bothe…rose bush looks great ther so hopefully come spring it will start to grow over…it will look lovely ❤
That "trellis " while bit long, seems to me possibly a hanging rack for slaughter clean-up work. Possibly long to handle multiple simultaneous clean-up jobs at once.
The reason that you see FedEx and such use rental trucks is because ‘This Time of The Year’ there is an increased load that they handle. They just rent extra trucks and hire seasonal employees. They have done this for years.
It’s all in the family…a family that works together – stays together. Good job! Angie, your trellis or arbor structure I like your idea…my ex grandmother-in-law had one with a bench. Now you need a bench beside it too. Love your video…keeps me laughing🥰🙋🏼♀️🙏🏻

New toy!!!!
Save your dryer lint, makes great fire starter
You might want to check some videos on orchard growing. You need big hills, not flat ground.
