The rain has been insane! So it’s a good day for a garden tour to show you what’s happening in all 10 of our backyard garden plots. We’ll show you which plots look good, and which ones are looking rough due to all the rain.
We’ll also talk about our change of plans in our no-till plot using our chicken tractor and the chickens to prepare the plot for us.

That's gonna be a whole lot of pumpkins, I can see Abram making plans for his pumpkin stand already 😀!!! ✌🏻
Send a little rain our way. We’ve had about 6-7inches this year in Central Texas
Those flowers are opposite for me. Cosmos thrive in my front planter with poor soil and full sun all dang day long (along with marigolds and milkweed). Celosia on the other hand, I cannot get enough water to them to make them happy. I've had petunias outdo celosia, go figure. SoCal can use some of your rain (not that we usually get rain in the summer).
My BUENA MULATA are mild and kind of sweet for now. I hope mine don't get bitter and did yours start out bitter?
Heck, we can't get a drop here in Louisiana. It goes all around us.
Interesting, I didn't know you could hill sweet potatoes. Thanks
Bought the grandkids nets to catch cabbage moths. They seem to be everywhere this summer.
What I notice, after watching many of your videos, is that your area is full of all sorts of plant diseases, harmful insects, and weather calamities involving too much water, too little water, and extreme heat. Also, you don't seem to have nice, plush, rich moisture-retentive soil no matter how much you put into it or do/not do. I commend your valor and perspicacity.
Love those sunflowers.
I can hear you – Brooklyn I need a drone to spray corn 🌽 for worms. Thanks for sharing 🙏 😎 🏖 🏝
Send rain north west….
We are so dang dry. 😭😭😭
I just had 2 massive trees removed and the big dump/grapple truck put 99% of all the wood from both trees in it and drove through my yard and didn't even leave a dent in the ground, just some mashed grass 😳
I've put ruts in my yard with a 3/4 dually truck with nothing in the back.
😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
I believe it was David The Good that gave his kids butterfly nets and he would pay them for every one of those white moths they caught. Time to buy a couple of butterfly nets and send your boys out into the garden. 😁
where do u get ur ruiz okree seeds
I followed your channel since day one, the Hoss one before this, needles to say I enjoy watching your episodes, that is why I take the liberty to formulate a criticism, the way you garden is not representative of how most folks do garden, you do not seem to have any financial limitations which is not the case for most. It is a shame because some would love to get ideas on how to produce more while spending less…..
What type of kale r those huge plants?
Rain? hmm rain. you say it’s puddling up? when mine puddles i turn off the hose! we’ve had only 1 rain in six weeks or more! maybe tomorrow 🤞
Son.. never ever top a pepper…stunts them and reduces crop at best. BUT YA CAN pot em.up and bring them in and get a huge jump on next year…i do about 20 and set out another 40 new ones. Sure live early peppers
Cosmos should take the heat…they flower towards fall..try the orange ones not the hybrids.
And sure looks like flea beetles..i dont know if i would spray now just for those on the sweet potatoes..u will get a huge increase in its PREDITOR soon..and thats good for the whole garden..i had them on the green beans this year and well im pushing 80 so i didnt feel like spray or dusting and for the first time in decades i saw praying mantis and other good predators…all i had was a few ugly leaves….just saying…. only crop i got anything off this year because of the heat and.drought ..and it wasnt even enough to can…so i just froze a few bags…NEVER SEEN such a horrible year…EVER..not even as a kid. Always had enough to sell and put up for two families ..not even enough this year for five meals
I dont know why but we got squash vine borers out the kazoo here. AT MY FARM…i havent been able to plant ANY THING they attack for about 10 years….neighboring farmers HAVE ZERO OF THEM…I HAVE MILLIONS IT SEEMS…AND THEY GET EVERY PLANT..EVEN WATERMELON AND.CANELOPE..so this year i planted ONE of those resistant plants..i for get itS name..nothing from it yet but to be honest i did it really late in the hottest driest year ever..and PLANTED just ONE i found near dead at a garden center i went to with friend. Looked near dead..but looks good now..
Suppose to be a zucchini substitute.
WORST YEAR EVER..
LMFAO..just found ur channel june 2022 and took me three videos before i figured out why u were so familiar.
U dont.grow leeks? I got the WEIRDEST TOMATOE EVER. Almost 2 months AT 100 PLUS NIGHTS ABOUT 85…AND THIS TOMATOE IS NOT JUST BLOOMING BUT SETTING TOMATOES. TRIED TO TAKE CUTTINGS BUT NONE HAVE TAKEN YET. NOT JOKING…WEIRDEST DAM TOMATOE..medium sized..thin skinned..juicy too. Weirdest thing i have ever seen in the garden and im pushing 80..
Please do a taste comparison on the Figs.
Yes we could use some of that "alot of rain" but it made the weeds in my plots easier to pull out. Worked on pruning out the dead blackberry cane (thanks to TexasPrepper for doing a video that it was time for that. Got those Bradford watermelon seeds in seed trays crossing my fingers I keep them alive. I also am going to try the Charlston Grey. Chickens are doing great job of scratching pumpkin plot. I may try some okra too. Not too much just a few plants. Enough to freeze. Glad to see your Bradford's did yiu follow their instructions for Hilling them?
Did you let the chicken poo sit before planting out the squash plants? What other plants like the high nitrogen from fresh chicken poo?
Puerto Rican bunch are my favorite sweet potato. Got that old timey sweet potato taste.
Hey Travis, my corn is doing good. Got tall stalks and my silks are dried up but the kennels haven't filled out. Do you think I just need to wait? My ears are long but some of them are shinny though. What do you think?
Those damn moths need to just stay off my cabbage. Bt knocks em out but man they’re fast before you catch em. Now if I could get some rain up here . So dry the grounds cracked
What varieties of watermelon aren't so sweet? I've been told that I should be eating more watermelon but I can't gag that too sweet taste. Any ideas?
Don't know what I missed , but haven't seen you on The Row by Row Channel??
Hope it was on Good Terms . I just came across Row to Row a few months ago . Then I came across Your Channel . I saw the one where You broke your back . Don't know if that was what it was about But , I enjoyed You and Greg ??? On Row to Row . But enjoy your Channel also . I am thinking of starting a Market Garden Myself . I am 57 but my Daughter is interested in helping me with it . 😀😀🙏🙏
We've been getting alot of rain too, but I love it. When you think of other areas of our country and how dry they are I'll take the rain any day.
Thanks for the great farm tour! It amazes me that you are planning your next garden crops. I guess it’s never ending there. We plant indoors in Spring and work like crazy to get a harvest by September 20 (1st average frost). PS- We would be happy to have a little portion of your rain, if you could somehow send it. 🌧
Azera?? For that moth??
Hi Travis. What are you spraying for the white cabbage moths? They just annihilate my brussels sprouts and my cabbage and are working on the kale. I tried netting, it blows off, it’s a pain in the you know what. Thanks!
