This small block retaining wall was built by me in one day. I have never built a concrete retaining wall before, but I was able to do this with no prior experience and you can too! I used landscape blocks you can find at any hardware store.

This is meant to be a basic retaining wall – I didn’t use any fancy materials or unexpected processes to get the project done. Follow the steps in the video and you can get a small retaining wall made quickly! If you have questions let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

Handyman Startup video I used for inspiration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfVOPqztUmQ

  1. If you can do it by yourself in one afternoon then I can’t, because I’m not as good as you..👋🤣👍

  2. Omg! You did a wonderful job! Thanks for sharing. I may do this project myself versus for hire. You give me hope.

  3. Very nice. Our front yard slopes down to the road and is super lumpy. I want to level it; and maybe add a retaining wall to raise it to a consistent height. You make it look easy

  4. Thank You….all i needed were the basics on 'How To' and this video delivered! 🙂

  5. I hope you know that popcorn ceilings can have asbestos, So I would check it out because it's a real dangerous situation be careful.

  6. beautiful lady and so handy. very informative video. I wish my wife can do one tenth of that

  7. nice work. i like how you used an extra 2×6 as a tamper, that gives me a good idea on doing mine.

  8. Awesome job you did great I'm definitely impressed on how it was your first time it came out perfect I would have definitely wore gloves and used the adhesive for extra precautions but other than that I give you a 10/10 I'm a landscape construction lead and been in the field for a couple years know and it's nice to see people diy I still learn new things everyday from videos like this so keep up the good work and God bless

  9. No. Just no. Several things are so wrong including the use of pea gravel. Never use pea gravel. Drainage stone is needed, not pea gravel..

  10. Any problems with water? Why didn't you install any drainage pipes?

  11. Your video helped me build my wall 2 years ago still holding strong today, by the way you have some really nice teeth. Very pointy fangs very cool.

  12. I used pavestone base topped off with 1in of sand for a paver base on a 3 block high wall, similar to what you did here worked out good for me.

  13. It's been 2 years now. How bad has it settled and become uneven from the porch? Yes the finished product looked good but there were some crucial steps you missed in there to prevent settling.
