  1. When you put in "a little something extra," we in Louisiana call that "lagniappe" (lan – yap). Thought about that when you were talking about the adding in the surplus vegetables from time to time.
Great video! Looking forward to the next one.

  2. We need a new name because this is a "csa" however csa means the pay up front thing.
But buying a bag weekly from the same person, is a csa community supported ag.
Idk what the name would be besides grab bag or easy veggie bags lol

  3. There is a local farmer where I live “Jared’s Real Food” who does the same model only you have to go out to his farm on Saturday’s between 2:30 and 4. You don’t even have to get out of the car. It’s really cool.

  4. Outstanding video guys. So much great info. Although I don't have nearly enough to sell, I plan to one day. You both are awesome. Keep up the awesome work!

  5. Tifton :-), the route I take when coming in behind a Hurricane to my favorite fishing hole in Florida. Would take it more except Atlanta is the deal breaker there.

  6. Did you allow people to place custom orders? Like if I call and say I need 10 lbs of tomatoes, 3 lbs of cucumbers, etc? I think it would be great to get back into it and let the kids work to earn money and show them how to work.

  7. Thank you so much for sharing this information! There are so many who need to supplement their incomes with the extra produce they grow, but have no idea how to do it. We just lost a store that bought produce from local farmers/gardeners, and this information will help a lot of people.

  8. I am all over this series. I heard you speak about the bag model last year and started working on a plan, but got stumped on a few aspects. Hopefully, on the next couple of videos you will touch upon them. Seriously, how to keep 5 crops ready in the early season and how much to plan on growing.

  9. Just checking in trav. I'm ready for the season to be done. I'm over 500lbs of maters and I've made like 30 quarts of salsa verde all from stuff we grow. I'm spent

  10. Very informative. Brooklyn was right, trying to give away when you have more than you can say grace over is like trying to jump over the moon. We had a produce stand and it made it a lot easier for us but we had that option. Thanks for all of the details. Glad to see you are back up and moving a lot better with your back. Appreciate the continued content.

  11. The way you guys did it was you essentially gave stuff away for a good price. Unfortunately ppl can be unnecessarily picky

  12. We always have surplus garden veggies and fruits. My concern was always liability if you sold them to an unknown person and they claimed to get sick. What did ya’ll do to eliminate that threat? With Brooklyn’s background, you must have thought of that. Just 1 frivolous lawsuit could be devastating. Maybe you can discuss during the next episode of this series

  13. Did I miss the video that explains why you aren’t with hoss tools anymore? Your parents never mention you and you never mention your parents. We just really miss seeing you on the row by row show. That used to be our Thursday night date, wondering what y’all was gonna be eating 😂. I love seeing Brooklyn on your new channel though. She makes you look good Travis 😂

  14. Good info Travis. Where do i get one of those hats? Why dont you use products from hoss tools like seeds and seed starter? thx…

  15. I’m curious about food
Product liability. Was that an issue? Business license? Taxes? (I’m building my orchard and garden, and trying to determine how I can make money in retirement to pay for my hobby. You pick? Selling canned items like jams and jellies. Or just produce stand.). I’m in zone 10a, SoCal and in CITY. Have lots of “market” that can come to me.

  16. Everytime they check the farmer markets they find a majority of fraudsters selling supermarket vegs at top price, there is indeed a market for authentic, honest home grown produce.

  17. You 2 are awesome! I get a kick out of your stories lol. Great idea to get ready d of extra produce! I do a swap at the end of the season with my girlfriends whatever we have extra We trade for extra of the other persons produce. Last year I had ample amounts of tomatoes to get rid of I traded them for free eggs. Avid gardener‘s gotta get clever 💡

  18. It's an interesting model to consider.. I have been doing the more traditional CSA model for 4 years now. It always runs 20 weeks, and the customers pay upfront to lock in. The thing I have found is that it's very difficult to adapt that model to the extreme weather events around here. We took a 2-week pause in early July to try to work around the worst of the heat and daylight for the plants.. and that helped some.. but it left us with things like tropical storms or hurricanes (we had both in the past week) to still contend with.. so I have been wrestling over a more flexible model and what that would look like. Thanks for doing these videos. Very much appreciated. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

  19. Great video Travis; very informative. Of all the models I've heard about, I like yours the best. I'm not of fan of pay up front and hope you receive something later on. I also like that when you had an abundance of vegetables, you shared with your customers. Keep the customer happy!!! Thanks for sharing your experiences and how-to.

  20. Hi Travis thankyou for your videos with market farm/gardens. The tomato varieties that you recomended were a huge hit in my garden..I was able to can up my extra veggies for eating later and not worry about it going off. I was impressed how it filled our pantry of good produce. Your bag model was a great influence on how I planned my produce production for gifting to friends n family. Blessings.

  21. approach local subways firehouse subs etc if you give them a good price they will buy a ton of peppers and tomatoes from you. im selling boxes of bells for 15 and tomatoes for 20 to my local subway on a weekly bases

  22. I know this doesn’t pertain to this video, but if I’m planting onion seedlings from a 162 tray on drip tape, planting on both sides, how far apart should the onions from one another?

  23. This is interesting. I know around here, we do have a few different farmer's markets, but the times they are open are prohibitive to when a lot of people normally work. I also don't want to sit at the flea market on hot weekends when my kid is going to be shuttled around for sports practices in the coming years. I have looked into joining CSAs and they are all full around here, cannot get in even if you get on a waiting list. That's when I started thinking about doing my own CSA. This sounds kind of similar, but I like the way you did it with no obligation to have someone pick up every single week. I retire in 6.5 years and I want to go part time before that, so if I can do something similar, this might work. Now I just need some land so I can grow food!

  24. Ok….I just figured out that you are not on the channel that i first started watch you on. Glad you doing your own thing

  25. Travis and Brooklyn, it is so generous of you both to share your experience and let everyone know how you all worked out the logistics of your sales of vegetables. It is so nice that you are willing to spend the time to share that info even though you all don’t sell any more. You both are such a fun couple with such adorable children. It is a pleasure to watch you both. Selfishly, I am glad that we get to watch you both much more frequently than when you were with Hoss Tools. You both provide some of the best information on the topic of growing! Thank you, thank you.

  26. Brooklyn rocking the lipstick and hat today. Travis, so good to see you're back is healing. You two are so cute together 🙂

  27. such a great video with so much useful info! and some sass sprinkled in :-). thanks to both of you so much for providing this content. I am really looking forward to more videos in this series. I am especially interested in knowing which veggies are best for selling from the homestead. you mentioned size (has to fit in the bag), but what about profitability? are some veggies inherently more sellable from a market perspective? also if you can give us any tips on roadside/driveway stands that would be helpful. how do you get the word out? thanks again. you guys rock! (and go gators)

  28. So Travis. I was curious to know about how many bags you made up a week? Or, how many customers you supplied in a week? Also, if you want to divulge, how much did you make a month on your model??
    Thanks. I’m researching all areas.

  29. We have a limited CSA for a couple families. They stop by each week and pick up their box. Very limited. We didn't want a fulltime job for the CSA but a chance to pay for next years seeds/plants. We've got a video on our channel. Great video! Thanks for sharing!

  30. Good luck to you from Texas . Keep up the great videos. Let us know if you go into the seed business.
