  1. Travis, what are you going to do now that those watermelons ran out? The neighbor's ducks are spoiled!!! You are going to need a bigger melon patch and a big walk in freezer to store enough melons to keep the ducks happy until next season!!!! I would not be too surprised to find they start pecking the fall crop melons once they set fruit!

Also I did find someone who says they have "Macon" onion seeds in stock. But if you drill down into the company info they were in CHINA. So if you find some at a seed company you are not familiar with, double check on their location!!!

  2. I've never tried any collards other than Georgia collards. I'm intrigued and would like to try another variety. What's the best producing collards you've had. I know you liked tiger but can't get them anymore so do you have a close second? Production is more important to me than taste. I was raised eating poke, dandelion, turnip and mustard greens so I can eat about anything lol. I had never even eaten collards until I moved to the south about 20 something years ago. But all the local seed places only have Georgia collards.

  3. Also thanks for mentioning what is your go to variety. I've been looking for a vid with that information and I know you're not wanting to make it so I'm just taking notes on the info you give out along the way

  4. Grew black magic kale from seed and green magic broccoli from transplant in late summer to fall and both did excellent! Try Bright lights Swiss chard from Johnny seeds, easy to grow, colorful and they pack a huge nutritional punch! All grown with Agrothrive organic fertilizer.

  5. I love beets but I struggle every year. I've only tried Detroit red because that's what is for sale everywhere I go but I'm definitely looking for a better variety for my area. I'll order whatever I need to online but I do try to shop local. Big box stores have the worst selection. I live in the Florida panhandle and my local Lowe's has Utah yellow jumbo onions. I'm pretty certain that Utah doesn't grow a short day variety which I have to so I don't know why those seeds are even sold here.

  6. I'm not opposed to using synthetic fertilizer if needed but I cleaned out a cow barn this year and had the best garden that I've had in years thanks for another good show

  7. Travis. Non garden question.
I've noticed that you've really lost weight and toned up.
How did you do this? And.
How do you eat these watermelon, figs, sweet corn, ect.. and still maintain your tone?
    Thanks.

  8. I never liked turnips til I tried a hakurei turnip right out of a farmers row. You can eat it raw if you want. It was sweet and crunchy. Now I respect the turnip

  9. Thanks for all the suggestions.
What are you going to do when you're out of watermelons? You might need to go to the store and get some for the ducks

  10. You are fast becoming my favorite channel for all things gardening! Have you tried growing Sunshine variety of yellow watermelon? Johnny Seeds sells them. Compact vines and melons are excellent! Fast growers too. BTW–those ducks are hilarious!

  11. Surprisingly my cool weather crops are going great, some seeds are old but still pretty good germination. I don't even like greens but I'm willing to try and get to like them as food prices continue to rise. The onions are really surprising because I've heard they lose germination pretty quickly. If all goes well I should have plenty of collards, cabbage, broncli and onions.
Always look forward to seeing what you're planting Travis.

  12. Just got in my seeds for fall. We went to our local nursey last weekend and they had some beautiful cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower plants $4.25 a six-pack, I left with one of each. They had a six-pack of the giant cabbage so I pick up one of those too, had never seen them around here. Those ducks sounded like they were laughing at you every time you started talking🤣!! ✌🏻

  13. Hey Travis. Great episode! I'm up near Savannah. Zone 8b. I've been growing 'bravo' cabbage for a couple seasons now. It's been my best green cabbage variety. Makes great sauerkraut.

  14. You should try Rape, Mustards and Turnip top greens. I normally grow them together, so I can cook them all together as a bitter mix greens in the Fall season.

  15. I loved and laughed so hard at you feeding the ducks a watermelon. That sound of them eating it was great!

  16. Just imagine you have 5 ducks, i have 22. Here in fl its still too hot for fall starts on top of hurricane season, but soon.

  17. What intermediate sweet onion seed would you recommend for the Piedmont area of the Carolinas? We are on the Zone 7b / 8 line. Thanks "in advance!"
