Where do you get the mesh material. The birds are eating my strawberries.
Yes, the seeds know when to come up .
😃 Hey Robbie did you know that plants do indeed talk to eachother! They use their natural chemicals to communicate and they also tell our atmosphere that they need water too. It's so amazing when you research it.💕🌱💕
I think it looks fantastic, and I love it all! You and Gary have been more inspiration to me than anyone else in the past 10 years! Thank you.
Robbie, where can I get walking onions? I’m in Northern California and am intrigued by them since you’ve introduced me to them. I’m looking online and am not sure. I’ll be in San Diego within the next 4 weeks if you have a recommendation for down there. Thank you for all of your tips and love of gardening! ♥️
Do you have a video on putting tulle on the pots for the Goliath Tomato?
Hi Robbie. Your so fun to watch, loved Gary's also. Your purple tree collard question. Does your ever go to seed? mine didn't until this year, it will be it's third year in my garden. Your plants have a mind of their own.
You have avocado trees coming up like I have pecan trees coming up. With pecan trees you have to get them dug up when they are 3-4 inches tall because the root is twice maybe three times the length of the height of the tree.
Mother Earth will always provide if we give her a chance all you and myself are doing is putting little garden in cubes of space
Would be interesting to have the perpetual wall garden. What will last and what won’t.
Thanks for your vids. I learn so much! 💕👍🏻🌺
God’s creation is amazing and He provides for his people and creatures.
Robbie, you are such an inspiration to me! I have a very painful back condition, 2 previous surgeries and possibly another one soon. I thought my gardening days were over and it was extremely depressing. But then I found your videos and I know I can do this! I bought 6 large tubs at Salvation Army, 2 are huge, for $32! I got 2 set up yesterday and will continue setting up a little at a time until it's warmer here in SW Virginia. My 91 year old mom loves this idea, I'm cleaning up fallen dead twigs, old leaves, kitchen scraps, nothing goes to waste. She loves your videos too, especially the hummingbirds. Because of you I now have 2 solar fountains in my bird baths and the birds and squirrels are LOVING them! Our hummingbirds arrived 2 days ago and thanks to you, I have hung more feeders! I love nature and you have given me tools to not only help nature but also enjoy it even more. God bless you in all you do and thanks for sharing!
Everything knows when Spring has arrived and their job is to survive. Here in the Sonoran desert the cactus, aloe, agave, prickly pear, palo verde, ocatillo and Saguaro are bursting with blooms, despite the driest year on record since the 1920's! Yes, I know native plants are acclimated to this environment. But I'm hopeful my totes, built like yours, will give life to food that native americans grew here too. Squash, beans, tomatoes, chiles, peppers, okra and eggplant grow well in the heat, and He_ _ is coming soon! Compost and T-shirt shades will help. I noticed the cement planter that Gary built has a stone in the lower right corner that is shaped like a heart. It's such a fitting symbol for you guys. 💕🍅
Thank you Robbie very informative 🪴
I have thyme as a ground cover in the soft area of my drive, out of 6 plants I would estimate 10X10 area now- I have a neighbor truck farmer that rents beehives, they come down here for the thyme-grin
All those volunteer plants, does your Humane Society have a plant sale, they would love your extra plants
You look at the tomatoes and say "I don't know what to do". I say "if it works, don't fix it".
Thank you for you inspiration. I’ve been starting seeds and am starting to fill my totes with items to compost. Nights in Ohio still too cold to plant. But soon😀😀
I would love to have some walking onions, not sure where to buy them.
You are the happiest person I know! You make me more excited about gardening!
Duh! I've been growing food crops since I could walk, some 65 years ago and never thought to use containers like this. All that tilling, wedding on open ground and fighting the invasion of grass! I know mother earth is right to green up, but the grass is a problem for us.
I think your garden areas all look great 😊. We don't have your great climate and have a short growing season that is only just starting but you got me fired up for new projects. Thank you!
Seeds are amazing things. A lot of people think Japanese maples don't have seeds and, they're often right, but it's because they're too young. It can take a full size acer 30 years to produce seed. Nature doesn't just randomly do things. She has a reason. If there are seeds, there's a reason – however many seeds there are, there's a reason – if there's NO seed, there's a reason – and when we garden or otherwise mess about with plants, we become a factor in her equation. If we fertilize artificially, she withdraws life from that soil and sends it somewhere else. when we set a pot on the ground, she calls in the worms and microbes to feed on whatever we've squished beneath it. If our soil lacks calcium, she brings in the dandelions to mine for it and bring it to the surface. Nitrogen? She brings in things that snatch it right out of the air and deposit it into the soil when they die back or we cut it down, "naturally", or brings in the wind to knock green leaves to the ground. When you weed and feed your lawn with chemicals, you get thatch because you've driven all of the microbes that would love to eat it away. I saw an old saying that was something like, "If you don't want a pig you're going to have to do the pig's job yourself". Bees need "weeds" – so there's no such thing as a "weed". If it's there, it's got a job to do. Whether it's an acid loving plant that will raise the pH when it dies or by attracting other things, then that's how nature takes care of business. AND how she takes care of US. I wouldn't be surprised – as much time as you spend in your garden – that if you scattered a random mixture of seeds in a tote? Those that came up, thrived and survived would probably either be the very plants that contain nutrients you yourself are deficient in or the medicine you need for an existing health issue. Just like open fermenting. Same ferment, different houses, different yeast, different enzymes, different flavors and nutrient ratios because your house, like your garden, is full of YOU. Your sweat, your oils, your yeast, the skin you shed – your natural "fingerprints" are all over your garden, just like your house – and nature KNOWS that garden – and everything in it. Including you. Every mood, every health issue – it's all reflected in your natural "fingerprints". It's intermingled with your very own electromagnetic field and everything in it.
You know how when things get stressful and you go to the garden to relax and just feel better? I wouldn't be surprised if nature detects your stress and your plants, soil, the air and even the birds blend THEIR "fingerprints" and pheromones and such to fix YOU and get the life in you back to its natural state which is interested, active, curious, awed and happy.
Our kids & grandkids are SO EXCITED about your videos and they've inspired us to do the same thing ourselves! Thank you! ❤ ❤ ❤
I love your gardens, they're beautiful, and full of food for anyone!
I planted greens beans last year and critters ate darn near all of them to them ground. This year as I was replanting I have found 5 green beans plants so healthy and pretty. These where able to make it solely because of you. Tulle. I bought a roll last year trusting your experience and advice. So as soon as the weather broke I took off my plastic and covered beds in tulle….. Thank you.
As a beginner gardener I really appreciate your enthusiasm and common sense approach to growing our own food. If it was as hard as some people make it up to be we would’ve all starve! I live in Tahoe at 7000ft and I container garden. I’m getting creative, containers give me more control, over the weather😄. Thank you so much
You don’t think that some of your birds didn’t plant seeds for you?
Hi started washing you with the hummingbirds then at end you would say eat what you grow what is this
I’m growing now
Robbie I just love your garden and I wouldn't change a thing it's I love the colors please don't change it.
There is a very interesting book I'm reading called "The Secret Life of Plants" by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird. It talks about plant communication…
