#Kyoto, located on the island of #Honshu in western Japan, was formerly the capital city before #Tokyo. Today, #Kyoto retains an old-world feel, where the pace is slower and centuries-old Buddhist and Shinto temples and shrines dot the landscape. Seeing this magnificent structures was a huge reason I wanted to to visit #Kyoto, so let’s tour some of the must visit temples and shrines in #Kyoto.
Thanks for watching! Cheers, Nick 🙂

Or just meditation place I think🧘♀️❤
I love traveling around Japan. Kyoto is awesomely beautiful old town and lot’s of temples and shrines. Eikando and Nanzenji are truly a great place to visit. Thank you so much for the wonderful tour . Reminds me my fantastic walk there last year (Autumn) Yes! Japanese language is very hard to learn. (Kanji, Katakana and Hiragana)Enjoy your travels.

I must say, I am loving your vlogs! Lovely camerawork and commentary!
If you are in Kyoto this weekend, it is usually the most busy weekend because of the leaves. We found that out in November 2019, just trying to leave town and couldn’t get a taxi. Kiyomizu may have the night lights on, which is just insanely impressive with the leaves. Other places around may also be lit up as well.
Pictographs (kanji), Japanese alphabet (hiragana) and for foreign words (katakana). Historically Japanese was read right to left, nothing like seeing all-star baseball tour in the 1930s, and going who is suuru buube, oh sorry Babe Ruth (beebu ruusu). If reading a news paper you go to top bottom and right to left. However when reading the box scores for say a baseball game it goes left to right (and following the batting order top to bottom). Hiragana and katakana are much easier to learn than pictographs.
After a while the temples around Japan all look too similar
Best vlog yet. Production is on another level
Lovely views and I'm glad you started with a lesser-known temple up north–you got very lucky with the weather, too! Too bad you didn't get to Ginkaku-ji (you were nearby), one of my favorites–often bypassed in favor of Kinkaku-ji, the so-called Golden Pavilion.
Japanese is easy to pronounce if you just take a few minutes to practice the vowel sounds (a = ah, e = eh, i = ee, o = oh, u = oo), which–unlike with English–don't change. With a few exceptions, vowels and consonants alternate, so pronunciation isn't difficult.
Wow😇This is an Amazing Video😃Lets stay connected😍
You did a great job ❤we enjoyed a lot
A long time ago in Japan, there was a time when Shintoism and Buddhism were mixed.
i enjoyed this
H i ! Nick😊 I'm learning english, and your videos are useful for me. I love your travel vlogs. Especially this one! !
The scene that pink flowers, leaf, water…breathtaking😍👏🏻 HINODEudon! Nice choice👍
Good luck❗️ from kanagawa pre.japan✨ Natsuko✨
Try udon with chili next time!
It is usually found on the table. If you can't find it, ask the waiter, " Ichimi dore? (where is chili?)"
Long story short, shinto and buddhism were amalgamated before. But in the meiji period, the new meiji government issued the ordinance distinguishing shinto and buddhism. That's why some old temples have torii gate.
日本語で書いてすみません!
私は京都に学生の頃住んでましたが、地元の人でも余り知らないけど、紅葉がとても美しい穴場の場所迄貴方が散策していた事に私はびっくりしました!🍁👍
(その場所は私の秘密のお気に入りの場所でした😊)
私が住んでいた頃は11月中旬から下旬が紅葉の見頃でしたが、今は若干12月上旬迄ずれつつあります。
沢山日本を楽しんで下さい😉👍✨
Great video, kyoto is gorgeous was there for 4 nights back in 2019. Cant wait to go back
Thanks for the nice video😊
I've been watching a lot of your videos lately.
I am glad that you are interested in old Japanese temples.🥰
By the way, there are few people around Nanzenji. I think I'll go this weekend.
🌸Philosopher's Trail is where the Japanese philosopher Nishida Kitaro 西田 幾多郎 (1870-1945) from Kyoto University used to walk daily. It's named Philosopher's Trail afterward in the 1970s.🦉🦉
Nishida was one of the most iconic Japanese philosopher and the leader of Kyoto School (京都学派, Kyoto-gakuha) philosophy.
As another comment mentioned, there is the practice of "Takigyo" in Japan, the waterfall spiritual exercise.
Do you think you will be interested in trying that out? There are natural waterfalls around Japan that is famous for that. Maybe also possible to arrange one paring with hot spring trip. As Takigyo is practice with cold waterfall water. And it's getting cold in the year. It's gonna be eye opening.
滝行(たきぎょう)Takigyo
Dayum! Again with the awesome intro!! In my head i was imagining Anthony Bourdain's voice doing a monologue over that intro. The rest of the video is impeccable as always. Great work!
Wish you a nice start to the day 🤗ᓚᘏᗢ
Doe mo arigato Nick , love japanese gardens, they are so manicured & beautiful. Perhaps the best gardens in the world. Good to see you getting a lot more comments now.
