I know summer is long since gone for most people… but my succulents are still feeling the effects. Many people think because I live in Arizona, I have the perfect weather for succulents. That’s not exactly true.
We’ve done a few things to help keep things cool and manageable, which I’ll show you in today’s video. The best part is, these are tips that you can use and adapt to your growing environment – even if you don’t get 110° days!

Thank you for these comprehensive videos, Ms. Tuttle. I don't know what I'd do without your expertise and personalized touch. Hugs from Canada!
I also live in the Scottsdale Az. Area and lost many plants this last summer….glad to see it happens to a professional like yourself also. AZ a heat is nothing to fool around with.😂😢😮😊
Okay, you talked me into it. When I get done watching your video i'm going down to Home Depot and buying that Agave Perryi (mescal agave) I saw last week. I've been wanting one for so long. After seeing how well your Agave Perryii survived the Arizona heat wave last summer, it can certainly survive Texas heat.
What about cactus, do they do well?
Thanks for the information.
I always look forward to hearing (daily) from you and your stimulating and informative comments. Also noticed that I'm not the only one that may loose a plant (or two) still in the little store/nursery containers. THANK YOU and keep up the great work!
We moved to Murrieta, CA last November. I’ve slowly started planting things after walking my neighborhood and attending a local Master Gardeners Home Gardens 10- class. My Mangave did great but started dying off; I figured it was monocarpic so pulled it up today before seeing all sorts of pups on it😮 I put it back in the hole and am praying it makes it. Yes, aloes and elephant bush. Also, silver jade does well here. My fire sticks in full southwest sun are fabulous as well. Everything you said here tracks with my experience so far. Thank you!
I feel for you having lost and had so many suffer this past summer. I'm in S. Dakota and it gets very hot here but HUMID also. I don't have near the problems with my outdoor succulents, but I do watch them like a hawk!! Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it.
