Zen Garden at Mimurotoji Temple, is one of the beautiful gardens in Uji City temples. Unfortunately my trips to this garden did not coincide with proper seasons (either cherry blossom season or the autumn color season), but this video gives you a basic idea of how they would look in the right season.

The gardens cover multiple Japanese gardening styles. There is a rock and gravel garden (representing the Zen garden or karesansui style), walk through garden (representing gardens present in monk’s quarters) and a large garden with small trees, shrubs and azaleas (representing Heian era style).

Hope you get a chance to visit this area during a representative season to enjoy their true beauty.
