This large driftwood root was completely covered in mud. Here’s how I cleaned this stump and how I get most of my drift wood pieces ready to sell. See more at www.gooddriftwood.com.

  1. Do you have to know exactly what species of wood it is so it won't poison the fish, or can you use any hardwood?

  2. Flying rabbit – Use Oak, Maple, Cherry or Birch wood. Do NOT use any pine or cedar they have toxic oils. You can get a commercial sized stew pot up to 200 quarts that you can boil huge pieces in. They come in steel or aluminum and run anywhere from 120 -400 bucks. But a 2' – 3' piece will fit easily in the larger pots.
