Hi I’m Darren at the Grow Show in Ann Arbor, Michigan and I’m here to talk to you about Smart Pot Aeration Containers. Smart Pots provide an excellent alternative to traditional container gardening by concentrating on healthy root development though aeration. Smart Pots also aid in drainage and the temperature of the root zone. The fabric walls of the Smart Pot make the roots naturally prune themselves and provide great support for your plant. The roots continue to grow from within the plant as they prune themselves with no restriction to plant growth. The bigger your root, the bigger your fruit. On an average 80 degree day, in a typical black container, your roots can get to over 120 degrees & suffocates your plants. With Smart Pots, the fabric allows the roots to remain at a cooler temperature, akin to your environment and allows breeze to get to your roots. With Smart Pots, water drains from all walls of the pot, not just out small holes in the bottom. This allows for easy flushing and water. Smart Pots are less fragile and drains far better when compared with clay or ceramic containers. In the larger style Smart Pot, you can grow potatoes and they are portable in comparison to raised beds. Here at the Grow Show we have any size Smart Pot you need. 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20 gallon Smart Pots as well as 4 by 4 bed liners. If you want bigger than that, Smart Pot will make it for you – up to 1,000 gallons. If you want to know what size Smart Pot is right for you, come on in to the Grow Show in Michigan or online at www.TheGrowShow.org.

"more stronger" how professional lol
You're fucking beautiful!
@TheGrowShowMichigan where can I get those runoff trays(0:11 ) from, and is there certain name for it? Since I don't live in U.S I'd have to purchase from amazon or ebay through a broker. Unless you do ship worldwide. Your answer would be much appreciated.
I like smart pots but that is not true raised beds can be built for as low as 30 dollars if done right. It would take a lot of smart pots to equal the soil size of a raised bed and wood is very cheap using chicken wire as a bottom your roots can venture deep into the soil as well leading to larger plants. Not trying to be negative at all with this post just disagree with the information your telling people when it come to raised beds..I worked on a school project on how easy they are lol =)
This is great for growing POT
Please tell us what size pots for which plants, how long the pot lasts, how to water and if we put a smart pot in a clay pot will it still air prune or do we need a certain amount of space. Thanks.
idiot.
He's Cool.. Keeps u interested lol… I Wonder if he smokes

Very informative thanks. Was looking for a growing pot for my new seeds i ordered. Found a bunch of these but nothing explaining what the heck it was. Now I know and it sounds pretty good. Thanks for this.
whats the diameters on these babies?

American Hydroponics Grow Trays, that is one brand. But 'hydroponic grow trays' should net you many search results for similar products. Cheers, be safe
How do the work during the winter tho when it's cold outside
HAHA thats exactly what i'am going to do 😀
I'm using these combined with my aquaponics, basically I put 3-4" of the pot into the grow bed that is a flood and drain system, the pot holds the super soil in but the nutrient rich fish water floods up waters the plant and then drains. The roots self prune on the sides and on the bottom where the pot is in the grow bed the roots grow into the aquaponic system, it is the best of both worlds.
I'm really glad to hear the advantages of smart pot growing methods. I strongly agree with your thoughts and I will never hesitate to give myself a good try. I would love to share this great information!
Cant you achieve the same thing by drilling many tiny holes around the sides of your conventional pot or bucket?
Shut up and take my money
Just use reusable shopping bags. Your welcome!
I did grow tomatoes in them and was shocked at how huge they grew…been doing it ever since lol…pots last year after year
Legit question. Can this be used with any plant? Kinda read the title the wrong way I thought it was smart pot growing. Not smartpot growing. Haha
Still feel like a beginner growing vegetables because the past three year I have no luck in fully growing them until recently I found smart on amazon and i bought 2 of them 5 and 7 just waiting to test it out when smart pot arrives at my home ,at amazon and after reading all great positive reviews ,i believe in this product .
and the black cloth still absorbs heat, thus raises your root temperature dummy, where do you think that black cloth is not going to absorb heat?,,, and no, they do not breath all that heat out, try testing your interior soil with a temperature stick..side by side, your looking at 113 degrees to 119 degrees in cloth vs plastic on an 85 degree day.
Where should I set these pots up? I am concerned about them degrading my deck boards. Better on soil? Concrete? Obviously I need to put them in a sunny spot. Thanks.
Thanks for the informative video. Have used Smart Pots for hundreds of plants. Used for vegetables and herbs. When I cut into the root ball after harvesting the root balls were big, healthy and filled the entire pot. Root balls in black plastic pots or clay pots often circled the pot and sometimes only filled 1/3 of the pot! 2/3 of the soil was not reached by the roots. The Smart Pots are sturdy just be careful when moving to not disturb the roots. Best to use the Smart Pots with handles for bigger sizes. Use a tray underneath if using pots on concrete or wood surfaces.
i feel like these need to be on a raised bed due to the drainage these smart pots have.
Yo , Kid u rock dude I'm sold ! He's good !
I saw in another video that the plant roots grow out of through the fabric. Is that normal and won't this give the plant a shock when the roots break off when take out of the smartpot?
I don't use plastic pots anymore these pots are fantastic!!!👍🏻👍🏻🌿🌱🌴🌲🌳. Only negative is you have to water more often and it's almost impossible to overwater unless you don't know how to water
Nice information 👍👍!
I just bought my first 10 gallon.
I did learn from this video.
Thank you. 🌱
I love this guy!! now I just need to know what to plant in what size pot. I want lettuces, carrots, tomatoes, herbs. I'm going online to see. Thanks very much Darren!!

How do you flush 40 gallon fabric pots? Mine just want to hold the water. I use green fabric ones. Outside grow.
