This exactly shows how I meal prep.. when I do it. I go down and think about meals to make and source what we will eat for the week from the preserved items in our homestead pantry and freezers.

Rachel since you don't use the upstairs pantry why don't you take everything there downstairs. Use that space to store your empty jars that will make your life much easier when canning
much love.
Hi, Rachel! I love your "what's for dinner meals." I'm in the process of looking for another stand up freezer, as the one we have has been discontinued. Can you tell me what make and CF capacity yours are? Thank you in advance.
Why do you call it tuna fish when it’s salmon?
I hope your jar opener turns up. But in the meantime, use an old junk lid on top of the lid you want to remove when you use your church key. That will help save your lids
Did you leave your can opener at the cabin?
You could fry an egg with hard yolk, then cut up. and add that's what I have done before less time than boiling if in a hurry. 🙂
Rachel it is easy to open your jars with only your fingernails if you wear them short. You are only breaking the seal, usually one side of the lid hangs over a bit more. Give it a try.
I haven't made amish bread for years but I do remember subbing out chocolate pudding for vanilla and it was divine. (Does yours call for pudding?) I'm gluten intolerant now but sure does sound good. ps… I've heard your name being thrown around on quite a few channels this past week. You are one popular girl <3
Do you call any fish sandwich- tuna fish? Salmon is what we would call it and tuna being tuna but I guess it would be a “Kleenex” type of thing.
Cotton balls work for the candle wax too!
I bet you would love the recipe from Carolyn over at homesteading family. She makes a fermented mayonnaise. It does not taste fermented but then it lasts so much longer
homesteading family recipe
1 egg
1 t prepared mustard
1/2 t salt
2r lemon juice
Add garlic, oregano etc OPTIONAL
2T ferment brine liquid, ***KEY INGREDIENT
1 1/4 cup oil
Leave on counter 6 hours then refrigerator
Thank you for this video. Can you tell me how you have your canning lids hanging along your kitchen wall?
You can also get rid of onion and garlic smell on your hands if you rib your hands over your stainless steel faucet while they are soapy! Works great! Love your pantry, would love to have one, but no room.
Thanks for the egg tip! Next time I make my own mayo I will try it.
I love your farmhouse Rachel. So much charm and character. It's so fitting how you grow and preserve so much of your food.
I have an easier way to get the wax out. Put jars in the freezer and once it gets cold enough the wax will release and you can pop it right out.
How did you freeze your potatoes?
It looks so good! Thank you so much
Rachel what does goat taste like and how do you cook it please?
Good morning Rachel and Todd! My husband Stew and I are so inspired by you both. Because of you, this year we grew our first small garden, built storage shelves in our basement, and bought a pressure canner! I can't believe i get to share a helpful hint to you! To open your jar, place a fork or spoon horizontal across your jar and put the pointy end of your jar opener on the utensil handle. Saves your jar lid. Thank you for all the great ideas! Stay healthy!
