Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland, Australia, about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online, so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

  2. i wonder how many people that don't cook or have never made curry before think curry is made with curry leaves. why is it called curry leaves in the first place?

  3. Would love to see more about growing curry trees and other sub/tropical staples! I've heard it mentioned that florida has a similiar climate to yours.

  4. that's awesome, I always love to share produce with people, found myself a 70yo friend through that aswell

  5. Mark, that was a lovely gesture.
I am growing a small curry tree in a 25L bucket. I am reluctant to take branches off as you did in case I damage it's growth. It's now 1200 high.
I would love update short on how to harvest PLEASE 😌

  6. I have also had success growing from seed although a bit hit and miss.😃

  8. FYI, i believe that curry leaves are used in South Indian cuisine not in North Indian cuisine… I believe. North Indian cuisine and South Indian cuisine are very different.
