It’s about time to get the windows and doors installed in the camphouse shed. There are a total of 9 windows, including 1 custom window that I make myself, and 2 doors in this design. All of the windows are single-pane utility windows since this shed wont’ be insulated or climate controlled. There is a steel man-door and a 6’x7′ steel roll up door as well.

Per usual, I’ve never done any of this before so buckle up for more learnings at my expense. One of the biggest learnings happened when I discovered I had framed my man-door entry too small…so I get to cut into my brand new walls and fix that – fun!

I also find out that installing a large metal roll up door alone is not only tricky, it’s downright dangerous! I narrowly escape disaster standing that door up but I do get it into place.

With all of that complete this shed is getting closer and closer to being done. Winter is definitely coming and I need to hurry and finish!

Thanks for watching and following along. Be sure to drop a comment if you enjoyed it or if you’d like to scold me for doing something wrong. Both are welcome!

  1. I love your video because after all the projects I have done I still make the mistakes you make. Glad I am not the only one who calls himself and idiot every now and then

  2. It sooo inspiring to watch someone doing stuff for the first time and still pulling it off – a bit like watching myself trying to make a square cut.

  3. Great progress 👍 and you're learning along the way 😁 ps. What do you look like without the cap?

  4. My only comment is. . I really really wish you would stop being so excited about doing this by myself and get help were it is needed that is a super saftey issue on your part. . the glasses thing is minor compared to what could happen on some of these. . Please get help for 2 person jobs so we can keep watching videos!!!!! Doing it yourself is not an extra badge!

  5. You can run a power cord from your house to charge your Zendure Portable Power Station and have the conveniences of having portable power! 😂😂

  6. To fix that dent in the door have someone stand outside and hold a 2×4 tight up against it and then go inside and hit it with another 2×4 and a hammer until the dent is as flat as you can get it. At least then it will be less noticeable.

  7. Unless you spend more time editing than I realize, I am thoroughly impressed with how much you aren’t swearing!!! After this build I’d need a visit to the confessional. Side note: your humility highlighting your mistakes has to be directly proportional w/ the increase in subs. Good stuff.

  8. Just curious… did you price out buying a shed of that size from one of the firms that build and deliver them ready to go? (ducks and hides)

  9. love the look with all the windows, but after seeing the struggle maybe lights would have been easier

  10. Come on Travis, you know that in 6mos you’re going to have a follow up to this series deciding to make the shed climate controlled.
Something worth doing is worth overdoing right?

  11. Pretty neat shed. Your wife is glad the garage door is up and this build is almost over so I can park my car in the garage now again!

  12. Well I have no idea if your doing it right or wrong but it all looks great to me!! Keep it up, this is a fun build to watch especially with showing how not perfect things are going to be on something like this and how mistakes are going to happen and just overcome them.

  13. Daughter?!? I guess I missed that one…that's cool!!! As a dad, you may feel like a yutz at times when you make mistakes, but your kids will think its so cool you can do the things you do.
I know it's been said many times but I appreciate your humbleness and showing the mistakes.

  14. “Supply chain issues.” No one uses thst as an excuse.

    “Shed contrarian.” You’re awesome.

If this were a real YouTube video, you would have used pocket screws for the custom window. I’m disappointed.

That dent in the beloved roll up door is a real pisser offer.

I don’t know how you have the energy to build it, film it, and then edit it, with small kids! You’re a machine!

  15. You are the most entertaining You Tube maker there is. Delight in your escapades. The shed is coming along beautifully and is going to be a great addition to your home.

  16. I have a roll up just like that on the back of my shop for the lawn mowers. Absolutely hate that door. There is a sizable gap at the top that lets the bugs in. Damn wasps love the rafters of my building.

  17. 11 grand for a small shack, plus siding, insulation and electrical will suerely be 17-18 grand….. kinda steep for just materials. What have the world become 😢

  18. Great work! I love the look of the “shed”.

Just wondering why you opted for a generator instead of running power out there? In the whole scheme of things, I’m not sure that it would be that expensive. You would have to trench it through your yard though, which is a pain. Keep up the good work! Stay safe!

  19. Loving the new style video series dude 👌🏻 a bit more relaxed and open with some comedy thrown in too 🤜🏻🤛🏻

  20. I kind of needed this today. Nothing is going right out in the shop. Nobody is perfect. Thanks.

  21. Brother you’ve got grit. Tackling this on your own has been entertaining to say the least. Keep it up. I enjoy the content as a small shop/business owner myself.

  22. Told my kid to make a window opening bigger then what it was. Nope, he crammed that window in… and upside down. I had to go back later remove it, cut the opening bigger and reinstall upside right. Works great now and doesn’t fall in when I open it.

  23. If you want to reduce the dent, there is a simple fix for that: Get someone on the outside to hold a block of wood against it (bigger than the dent), why can keep it firmly in place, like in a "brace for impact" stance. Then you take a block of wood which is a hair larger than your dent and give it a good wack from the inside. Repeat if needed.
Edit: As you can still screw in the outside, you can also use sturdy beam instead of another person. Just use your take to close the holes again 🙂

  24. The windows cost were very reasonable!
Always enjoy your personality and eloquence in explaining the process.
You are THE best of the best brother. Excellent YouTube productions.!

  25. Coming from a guy who tried to amputate his fingers one fingertip at a time installing automotive foil-backed insulation, you’re not doing too terrible. You’ve even upgraded from dodging self-directed nails to …eating screws? You’re a wildman, good sir.

  26. Are you going to try hammering out that dent? Little bit of paint and then it's even less noticable.

  27. High strength glass would be my choice for the custom window. Polycarbonate scratches very easily. Don’t use abrasive cleaners or “hot” solvents. Polycarbonate expands and contracts with heat. Mounting it tightly is risky. It could distort in the heat of summer.
I’m liking your attitude about tackling a one man project, but it is risky so be careful and use safety equipment. Actually, you’ve completed the project so luck was on your side. I’m pretty irresponsible about safety myself, so I’m speaking theoretically only. 🙂
