    Could please stop stealing my heart? 😂 I've never seen a girl who knows so much about Mega Man and other things talked about in this video.

    Is like to add though that the Mega Man X games also have a lot of mechanics that don't show up for more than a screen, but yeah that's not the main issue of level design.

    I recently got in my head to play lots of old game series from start to finnish, that I never got to play or didn't care about when I was younger. Mega man is one of those series, and I am almost done with the series now, only a handful of games left. When I think back on mega man 8, I seem to remember lots of frustration, but also several really exciting moments. 😀 I do think the boss fights were mostly well done, and I prefer the upgrade system to that of mega man 7. You can't just endlessly farm the bolts, you have to pick and choose what you pick from the upgrades. The music was nice, although nothing stuck in my mind particularly well. The anime cutscenes were so bad, but so funny. I also think clown man was adorable. 😛 But one thing I absolutely hated was the snowboard sections. Those darn things caused me so much frustration, even thinking about them makes me angry! XD But all in all, I think mega man 8 fall for me somewhere in the middle when I think about mega man 1-8. If I take in X and Zero, then maybe it falls a bit lower. 😛

    I'd also just like to add that you call the Legends and X series a "spin-off series".. I'd prefer to call them a "sub-series" because those games have separate identities from Mega Man's Classic series and can function on their own as a separate series, unlike something like Mario Kart where it's identity is heavily based on Mario's main line games and using basically almost the same characters.

    8 is my favorite game of the classic series by a mile. I just adore everything about it, even the flawed gameplay. It's so whimsical, cute and extra.
    The opening has also always left me wanting a more properly cute classic Mega Man anime/cartoon, would just love to see all the robot masters rendered in that 90s style!

    And while I understand why the games following it moved away from its art style, I'm still left wanting for more games with same amount of detail in sprites, all of the exaggerated bits of animation.

    But what I'm really trying to say is: Mega Man 8 is gay as hell and we need more games like it.

    I certainly grew up with a worse MegaMan if we are going to split hairs. DOS MegaMan with WASD is a pretty shit experience with or without nostalgia vision.

    MegaMan 8 is NOT the worst game. It's like MegaMan 5, it's just a game to play and possible to have fun with, nothing more. It's my favorite as well. But I think the worst MegaMan game is MegaMan and Bass.

    Anyway, I don't mind the gameplay difference in megaman 7 & 8 compared to the past games, it's like complaining that Super Mario World doesn't play like Super Mario Bros.
    Even if it's not the best gameplay wise, it's a matter to learn and work with what you have

    its surprisingly the only mega man game i tolerated for some reason, though i grew to like the older games later, i guess young me was all about animation and style

    Megaman & Bass is my favourite one, presentation wise especially. It is quite difficult and thats alright, I am bad at these games it does take me multiple tries to beat certain stages but they are fun AND challenging.

    Always found 8 to be the best looking Mega Man game, even moreso than X4 (X5-X6 reused sprites from X4 which was odd, since most of the new sprites were way less fluid and less animated than X4's due to how rushed those games were) but sadly it does make everything more sluggish (Just like how 7's bigger sprites and more frames made it slower to move around) I've always been a bigger fan of Mega Man & Bass due to its more interesting and focused level design, despite reusing many assets from 8, it does feel less sluggish and it uses its stage gimmicks in a more appropriate way, it actually tried to develop those gimmicks and scale the difficulty up as you go through, and then there's Mega Man 9 which has the absolute best level design in the classic series, coupled with the classic fluid 8-bit movement and it's just a joy to play, despite the lack of sliding.

    I recommend trying out Rockman & Forte (Megaman & Bass) since it’s my second favorite game behind 2. I was kinda shocked to see it ranked so low in the list but I can understand why( from it just having a bunch of reused stuff from 7 & 8 to the difficult bosses as well as Megaman just lagging behind compared to Bass) but it’s still worth a shot. Definitely play the super famicon version instead of the inferior gba one but up to you if you want to review it

    8 is in my top 5 of Megaman games. Yes it has its issues, but I love it. biggest weakness to 8 is the weak slide, I actually forget to use it almost every time I play through 8 myself.
    You may love Clown Man, but Tengu man is my jam, that cocky jerk.

    I love this game, specially the music.
    About the Saturn version, on the back of the anniversary cover it says that it allows for one or two players, for years I thoght there was sme kind o secret two player mode but I guess it was just another misprint by Capcpom.

    MX is X4 because I’m basic, and my favorite game in all the series including all of them.

    After recently playing the whole classic series for the first time, I can say there is no such thing as a bad classic Mega Man game. 8, despite the flaws, is truly a very fun game with a very interesting twist on the formula. And say what you want about the story, I think it's really solid despite the English voice acting.

    31:28 you can hold up on the dpad while you kick it to make the Megaball go at a more upward angle. It makes the boss fight alot easier

    I mean, mega man 8 isn't my favorite game of the blu boi games, but it is in the honorary spot of games I could replay pretty much whenever and have a good time, so I respect it for that. It’s probably a combination of it being a good length for a one shot play through of the whole game, it’s inherent engaging platform gameplay, it’s easier difficulty compared to other mega man games, and the esthetic mmmmmm

    The best part tho is seeing all da peoples that absolutely love mega man 8 get to express how much they love it and what it means to them in da comments. It’s like a wholesome gathering of freakish little brain people. I love it!

    Overall, 11/10, based video. Would watch again (─‿‿─) 👍

    It only goes to show how great the entire megaman series is, when the game considered one of the worst in the series is this fun!!

    This was a fun video. Really hit a lot of great talking points.

    My only issue was with the bit on the voice acting. We did an interview with Ruth Jarman (voice of Mega Man, Clown Man, and X from X4) a little while back that really told a lot. It wasn't that the voice actors didn't have English as a first language, it was more Capcom hiring people that just spoke English and gave them no direction or context for anything. The people overseeing the production did not speak English, if I recall, so the actors were just doing the best they could with what they were given and very few takes.

    Anyway, great video. Mega Man 8 definitely feels sluggish to play, but I have so many good memories with it and love it to death.

    Honestly, this is also my favorite classic megaman game, but I've had less quibbles with it. I never really had many controller issues with it, or issues with the art design. In fact most of the complaints in this video are more or less new to me.

    MM8 for the PS1 was my first Mega Man as a kid in the 2000's and I loved it, though as a kid I thought at the time all of the MM games looked like the way this game looked, but that was far from the truth but when I nabbed Legacy Collection 1 for my (now out of commission) 3DS back in 2018 I enjoyed the hell out of the first 6 Mega Man games. Anyways your critiques were fairly accurate, I did not love the snowboard sections sorry to say (the start of the first Wily's Castle Stage being the worst offender), overall I thought this video was really nice and enjoyable to watch.
