When the Dreadnought made its appearance in the early 20th century it was the mightiest ship the world had ever seen, making all other gunships obsolete, including the rest of its own navy. It also sparked a naval arms race around the world, as many nations built such behemoths. But what were they actually like?

So what do you think? Should (or will) Sabaton write a song about the Battle of Jutland? It was the largest naval battle of the Great War, and they've certainly covered that a lot. We know you have a zillion ideas for things they should cover in their future songs, but how might the lyrics to a Jutland song go? What might the title be even?
@0:11 I think of the Iowa Class
For those of you that interested in early naval battles, or naval power in general, take a look at the game Ultimate Admiral Dreadnaughts. The game spans ship technology from 1890 to 1940, but the best part, you get to design your own ships.
Not only did he get the history of Dreadnoughts we also got the history of Mentos commercials which was an added bonus lol another enlightening episode
0:53 i almost died
MAN I LOVE WARSHIPS! GO DREADNOUGHTS!!!! (there's a 20yo man writing this)
Thank you Eddie, you are cool
One question i hear a lot is "What's the Difference between a Dreadnought and a Battleship?" And really they're one in the same. Basically all Dreadnoughts are Battleships, but not all Battleships are dreadnoughts. Its just the style, layout, and building philosophy of the time. It wasnt until about the late 30s until the dreadnought concept was replaced with the modern Battleship types, like Fast Battleships, replaced them.
Best song of the album!
All of us who play World of Warships Legends/World of Warships PC version… this is a deep dive into our battleships.
Of course… USS Texas and South Carolina were one of the many dreadnoughts in the US Navy… Texas is by far the last surviving dreadnought who served with duty for her nation. Good stuff
I love that Turisas shirt.
I didn't know this was Samazon history 😀 I didn't know if I catched it right at the end so I had to replay But I'm sure I got it right. Anyway great video, I was looking forward to this one for a while now.
Dreadnought was one of the most heart-pumping songs in your setlist, I can't wait for you guys to come back to the US
Yes write it
Love the T-Shirt, Pär. Love Turisas almost as much as I do Sabaton
When the British Navy launched the mighty HMS Dreadnaught, U.S. Congressman John S. Williams (D-MS) introduced a bill to rename the USS Michigan as the USS Skeered O' Nothing.
Wait how has sabaton not done a song about Pearl Harbor
Honestly I wouldn’t mind more songs about more metal monsters. Missouri, Nelson, Yamato, ect.
The Battle of Jutland would have gone much better for the Royal Navy if Beatty and Seymour weren't there.
This episode reminded me that I need to go visit the Battleship named after my State.
Here is an idea for a couple naval songs. A villainous sounding song about Japan's Kido Butai and a heroic sounding song about USS Enterprise.
Please, tell methey will make a song about the USS Texas XD
Funfact, except for the German Battlecruisers, and 6 specific british capital ships none of them did ANYTHING in WW1. Like the QE class plus Tiger and Iron Duke are the only british Capital units to actually do anything in WW1.
Par with the Turisas shirt is a crossover I definitely need
Rather than Jutland, Sabaton should craft a song of the mightiest daughter of Jutland.
That first of the Fast Battleships.
Who defied the serried might of the Hochseeflotte, and saved warriors by her mere presence.
Who sank u-boats, crushed destroyers, twice humbled the Roman Navy.
Who opened the invasion of Europe in 1944, and melted her guns in the doing.
Queen of the Seas.
Grand Oldy Lady.
She who endured All of the Hard Knocks of War.
Sing a song of Warspite my friends.
Sing of she who's ghost lingers yet on Marazion's shores.
One other thing that's interesting about the song Dreadnought – its riff echoes that of In Dark Places by Crimson Glory. Is Joakim a fan of Crimson Glory, perchance?
A concert with the Battleship Texas behind it would be amazing. Hard to put together, but amazing.
