  2. for myself it would have to be a Zen garden. To allow your mind thoughts to flow out in relaxation and then to allow the garden in the place of those thoughts. So relaxing.

  3. When I lived in Kyoto I was within easy distance of ryoanji, so I spent a long time there. I will forever remember when one day I was looking at it for about two hours when suddenly the scale changed and the rocks became mountains. It was wonderful. I highly recommend staying there for much longer than the normal tourist route.

  4. I love the last type of garden.
I prefer the different aesthetics, and depending on my mood/state of mind, I think having both water to listen to, or no noise at all, would be great. Also, an area for a tea ceremony which whisks you away to a secluded spot would be great.

  5. I like the Edo period because it incorporates all the different types from the earlier periods.

  6. Anyone else bow to Shogo when he bows at the beginning? I know I don't have to, but I feel like I should to show respect.

  7. If any one watching this is from Virginia and you would like to see a Japanese style garden there is one in Richmond at Maymont. It's free entry. It does not seem as impressive as the ones shown in the video but it's a lovely spot to spend some time in Richmond.

  8. I've spent the past week watching your channel to learn about Japanese culture. I respect you and your team so much. I really enjoy the way that you present the various topics. 💙💙💙

  9. I was fortunate enough to visit the Tokugawa Garden during my visit to Japan a few years back. I've learned now it's an Edo style garden, and walking through it was truly an amazing experience.

  10. I think my favorite would be the Heian. I love water so the idea of floating in the middle of a peaceful garden writing poetry sounds amazing. Although, I do really love the idea of the tea garden having plants everywhere what block out the city hustle and bustle and give a secluded peaceful space.

  11. I'm so happy to find a video like this. Japanese gardening techniques or patterns and bonsai was a large part of my upbringing and it is probably what sparked my interest in Japanese culture. <3 I wish I could visit many gardens and bonsai masters one day with my father.

  12. Adelaide has a beautiful Japanese Garden it has both the zen garden and flowing water, its circular and scenery changes as you move. I love it. The 5th one is what we have here

  13. There are Japanese gardens in Santiago of Chile and Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Embassies donated them (as far as I know 🙂

  14. I kinda like them all but I really enjoy gardens in general. Though Tea gardens sound the nicest to me. A place that well take out out of the real world and into another place sounds really nice.
