Creating a modern office where man-made materials and nature complement one another, Daniel Boddam Studio undertook the interior designing of Wyer & Co.’s warehouse office. Located in Botany, an industrial suburb of Sydney, the warehouse-turned-modern-office was a simple, brown-bricked building. Enlisting the help of Daniel Boddam – a long-time friend and collaborator –a sense of natural ease and comfort was instilled into the new Wyer & Co. headquarters.

Using warm and organic tones, the Australian landscape was the primary inspiration for the project. From the front of the modern office, clients and staff enter a lobby filled with natural, light and sandy colours. While the limestone floor imbues the feeling of being outside, the furniture chosen references the Australian outdoors. From the Wave Sofa to the Pipi Coffee Table, each piece works together to instil the modern office with serenity and comfort.

From the lobby and into the conference room, a continued reference to nature flows through furnishing and material choices. A material display room then acts as an intermediary zone between client presentation and staff areas. Additionally, upstairs holds two breakout spaces for one-on-one meetings and Anthony Wyer’s office, which adopts an open-door policy. On the ground level, a kitchen space, bathrooms and main storage are kept bright with honeyed timbers, natural light and warm furniture choices. Entrusting Daniel Boddam Studio to declutter the interior and bring back space, light and proportions, Wyer & Co. revived the outside landscaping by adding a garden box filled with a simple plant palette.

Continuing to celebrate local makers, the office space displays Australian designers with a modernist sensibility. Delivering custom-made furniture, the boardroom features a recycled elm conference table and cabinetry made of Portuguese cork inlay and American walnut. Inspired by nature and an indoor-outdoor connection, the modern office supports collaborative work and encourages conversation within the comforting space.
