In this weeks episode we meet an inspiring young woman who started with only $3000 and built an incredible tiny house for herself. You never know what you can accomplish until you try and that’s exactly what Sophie discovered when she set out to construct her dream DIY tiny house.

This is a tiny home that has been beautifully crafted with love and creativity. To keep costs down, many of the items in this house have been pre-loved and up-cycled which helps to give the house a real sense of character.

Now parked up on a dream spot in Byron Bay, Queensland, this home is surrounded by beautiful permaculture gardens and is totally off-grid, capturing rain water and with a good sized solar set-up. Sophie has all she needs in her little house.

This tiny house project has also enabled Sophie to create a workshop space in her home, where she now weaves her own beautiful textiles on a vintage loom. You can find out more about her artistic work via her website: https://scribblygumweavings.com/

We hope you enjoy the tour of this remarkable tiny house and meeting the wonderful woman who built it.

  1. This handcrafted tiny house is a work of art. I really love stories like this one. For those who decide to take on the journey of building their own homes with no prior experience, often, it's one of the most difficult things they will ever do. It's often also one of the most rewarding. Sophie's story is a wonderful example of what is possible. We hope you enjoy this episode! With Love, Bryce & Rasa

  2. So beautiful and cozy! It has so much character! Love the little wood burning stoves! Your house is perfect size, some of the tiny houses I've seen weren't that small, I want a tiny home similar to the size of yours!😊🏡🦋🌳🌸🥀🌼🌄 You have such an amazing view!

  3. Off topic but you look like that self portrait of Albrecht Durer. You're a very good interviewer. Interesting video.

  4. OK pretty place but 3 1/2 years with no toilet and all that room that’s in the bathroom? Really? Come on honey be a little bit more realistic than a bucket

  5. ❤❤❤ Love you, Sophie. Hope you begin a practice of leaving all humility at the door! You’ve built a dream.

  6. So much beauty in this home! Sophie is truly an artist, with an eye for design and color and space-making. Everything is done to a 'T'. Big applause to her for this fantastic outcome for the home, and then the beautifully designed outdoor spaces, as well.👍💕☮

  7. So she has to defecate in one bucket and urinate in another and the buckets were full? interesting a little more rustic than I could or want to handle.

  8. Sophie has so clearly build herself into every part of this very lovely home, it touches my heart and inspires me to make sure I find pieces that I love to be a part of my tiny home build, even though I wont be doing the build.

  9. Oh, this is lovely. Every small spot has a great touching base , precisely designed and so harmonized within the house.

  10. This is tiny house and all of its surroundings are absolutely beautiful!!!!!! I like very much how you made everything to suit yourself and not to make a home just to impress others who come over. Your home is supposed to be your comfort and you have truly made it that. Your place is absolutely gorgeous. Your place beats a lot of retail tiny homes for sale that cost way too much than what they are worth.

  11. Such a simple beautiful lady n has accomplished to build her artistic home for herself. A hardworking artistic lady. Hats off Mam

  14. Most rich people stay rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then most poor people stay poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the rich but impressing them

  15. Beautiful home – inspiring and calming and so affordable – it made me feel cosy and warm and it makes you appreciate what you have.
