A WW2 spy had access to an arsenal of gadgets and weapons that would strike fear into the enemy. Under the cover of darkness, SEO and OSS agents used these special tools to deliver war to the heart of the enemy on the shadowy, invisible battleground.

  1. The problem with all the Secret Radio dropped behind enemy lines (All Sides of the Conflict) accountants dictated cost, thus the Regenerative Receivers were used which transmit a small signal, which can be traced by the enemy detection units. Most Merchant Navy vessels also employed this type of on board radio receiver.

  2. 32:04 Apparently something similar to this was used over the weekend 10/29/2022 against the russian fleet in a port in Crimea against a 5 year old russian frigate.

  3. Guerrilla warfare has been around thousands of years before the SOE!! Ismaili Assassins, Zealots, Sicarii etc. I’m sure it’s as old as warfare itself.
I thought he was an expert?!?!

  4. There was no Ministry of Defence in 1940. It was still the War Office. MOD was created post war.

  5. Weaponry is weaponry. I don't like any mention of terrorism in connection with this. It's unjust. I do not believe in an aggressor/victim moral equivalence. If the Germans hadn't overrun Western Europe, SOE would never have been created. I'm sure that most of the Wehrmacht were not enthusiastic about what they were doing, but their capacity to make war needed to be destroyed by any means, fair or foul.

  6. the SOE was 1' of the better way ahead of its time because MI-6' had dropped the ball big time as for the us OSS they took their que from the SOE and a bit from MI-6' and did grest for a rookie new born to the dark arts of old espionage and the type of rugged individual americans who had the out of the box thinking that irregular warfare has to have actor david nevin was SOE and american actor sterling Hayden was OSS and worked with and ran guns to tito's yugoslavs partizans and julia childs , crazy old ian Fleming was naval intelligence and many other personalities did work in the shadow's

  7. It's a way of killing to detach life. 39000 tons. Is separation from the amount of merchant sea killed

  8. I have this series on DVD but never watched this one, probably the best one, thanks! BTW, @37:00 they discuss a safety check in the coded radio message. The Brits ignored this rule in Denmark when one of their operatives was under the enemy. They kept parachuting spies into the German's control even though the radio operator tried to warn them by leaving out the safety check!

  9. She's got a Sten gun.

Better off using it as a club, cuz it wasn't made to fire bullets from.

Now the Bren gun…that was a decent piece
