This is a small #OvergrownYardCleanup of tall grass surrounding an area of overgrown lawn. It is to avoid a city violation fine. More below. Help to buy a trailer? City violation

The overgrown yard clean up is due to the owner receiving a letter from the local city (council as we call them here). The tall grass in this overgrown yard needs a clean up to avoid a city violation fine. Most of the tall grass is along the brush fence. It seems like an obvious fire hazard as the tall grass dries out. This is part of the front yard of a house to be demolished.

I only filmed the lawn mowing and tall grass clean up on the right hand side of the path in this time lapse video. I left the flowering plants along one fence alone for now until further instructions are received. My understanding is that only the tall grass needed mowing at this stage.

Pathway reveal

So I started by uncovering a pathway of slate stepping stones in the small lawn area. The pathway reveal is at the end of the video. It was also way to find any edges for the garden beds. This part of the video was really an indulgence for filming. I wanted to expose the stepping stones with far less lawn around them. The Honda lawn mower is a big 21 inch one and I had it on ‘mulch’, hence the multiple mows. I then blew the clippings away to rake and bag later. The blades are fine. It’s a new mower.

I did not have to mow and clean up multiple times when I could have just mowed it once because the house is to be demolished. However, some viewers love seeing pathways being uncovered and the reveal later so I chose to go about it that way for viewers. The drawback is that it extends the length of the video and some scenes could have been excluded.

Camera movement and are you a YouTube Super Fan?

I normally edit out camera movements but I have included some of these in a few videos lately. The aim next year is to buy a little bit more camera equipment and a couple of string trimmers. You can help by being a Super Fan via the ‘Thanks’ button above. A Super Thanks when you comment can help “the little guy” more than you know. It is just one way to show your support. Give it a try?

Overgrown tall grass clean up along fence

Tall grass is then cleared along the front fence in the second half of this video. The end result is also revealed at the end of the video. It is not a big job but I wanted to film it to show the difference in the end. It does not look great in the end but it does not have to if the house is to be demolished. Avoiding a city violation fine is what the owner wants. It is a bit hard to believe that the city would complain about this small overgrown yard but they do send out letters for tall grass and weeds on vacant lots as well as houses sometimes as Summer approaches. The yard needed a bit of a garden restoration back to what it may have looked like in the past. Reasonably neat!

The volume has been lowered in editing to 30%. Mute if you need to instead of commenting. The file size is 1.81GB in SD.

  1. Jurassic park grass… yikes. It's like Howard, discovering the tomb of Tut…

Seek and YE shall find! Lovely wildlife flowers in a sea bed – of green grasses. The mower, even with the bagger attached, is struggling…. wow

  2. New Subscriber. Maybe watch a few SB Mowing to get a better idea about after camera techniques. Everyone had to learn and it is so much fun to watch the "New Guys" grow. I would think it would be hard to get your camera angles while you are trying to work, and then go home and edit each one. My hat is off to you all! I bet it was pretty when you finished.

  3. I like stepping stones. You did a good job. Before/after shots really show the difference. Good video. From Minnesota USA

  4. I know nasturtiums are invasive there, but they sure are pretty. Keep up the videos and we will keep watching.
