In her talk, Sofie is on a quest to answer the question “What is the best school in the world?” that began circulating during college applications in senior year of high school. The quest spans from rainy Vancouver, Canada across oceans to warehouses and workshops in South Africa to rural landscapes of Malawi, and is guided by experts who have become her personal heroes. As an aspiring civil engineer and architect, she proposes the field of girls’ education architecture, at the intersection of design, sustainable energy systems and public policy. The answer to this big question might surprise you. The center of Sofie’s universe is Vancouver, Canada, where she has spent her life so far running the forests and streets, cherishing the raindrops and tall trees, taking ferry rides to see her grandpa, picking apples with her mom, watching sunsets with her friends, and going to the best school in the world. This fall she will leave to study civil engineering, energy systems and architectural design at Stanford University. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

  1. God loves you and takes care of you. The biggest loss that a person loses in this life is to live and die while he does not know God or His Messenger, Muhammad, the last of the prophets and the Islamic religion, the last of the heavenly religions, from intelligence. Before you believe in something or not, study it and try to understand it well, and then you have the choice.  By reading the Noble Qur’an with translation and trying to understand it before time runs out
