    Nice video. Tin is what built the city early on. Tin was discovered in the area upstream and was already being mined. The confluence was considered the furthest point upstream that was navigable by small boats to supply the operations and that is where the settlement grew up around. The British did introduce rubber trees, through smuggled seeds out of Brazil – an interesting story on its own, to then Malaya and the rest is history.
