Actually, I was searching for jars and went into the Bernardin and Ball websites and one if the websites had a statement saying they will no longer produce lids. Maybe take a look there and hopefully you can see what I mean.
Woooohooo first comment
Hi Toni – great video. Yes when shopping at alternate markets you can find many interesting foods not always available elsewhere. I used to frequent a few when I lived in the city, it’s been a while since I’ve been to one. Excellent idea to visit and see what they have.
Loving your pictures! Thanks for the reassurance.
I've found some of the greatest sources of "disinformation" (God, I hate to use that word) regarding supplies like these come from certain "prepper" YouTube channels. Always, always, always do your own research, and don't take anything anybody says at face value. Sad world that we can no longer trust anybody, anymore.
"Greatly" is without the "r" on the main title page…just fyi…great info in the video!
Hey Toni, I heard about the lids issue a few days ago. I didn’t pay it any mind. I did see where Pam at Rose red did a one year check on the used lids and tattler gaskets. All were still sealed and looking good!
Hi Toni! RoseRed Homestead did a year long experiment on using Ball lids with tattler rubber rings. It was a success! Just thought you might be interested. (She is a scientist an advocate for safe canning.) God Bless you, Mark and family always !
I think what it all boils down to is it's your kitchen and if you want to try it go ahead! However make sure in a few weeks you keep checking to make sure the lids are still on and no sales are broken. Personally I've done it myself and in a pinch I would do it again!
Toni, do you still have the jars you canned using tatler gaskets with used canning lids? Another you tuber did the same experiment and all her jars are still sealed after 1 year. It stinks that the company removed bulk amount of gaskets from the website after 2 channels tried it. Don't get me started about the channels that called y'all out for rebel canning processes, as they have a ton of rebel canning videos of their own.
Ball has joined the World Economic First Movers Coalition to "reduce carbon footprint". The coalition is launched by the UN.
This lets us know that Ball is participating in the early ESG reporting. From this, we can expect that the canning industry will be strictly regulated and possible inaccessible to many in the future.
I would strongly discourage anyone from using the Pur brand of canning lids. I had a dismal failure rate and so did a friend of mine. Lost a lot of good meat. I'm extremely knowledgeable with canning as I've been canning for over 40 years.
I sure hope the possible school workers strike is avoided. The kids have been through enough the past couple of years. They need stability. I'm lucky, the Asian market I go to has food from all over the world. I'm half Polish and stock up on Polish pickles, jams and sauerkraut. It's also fun to try things based on the pictures since I can't always read the language on the label.
thank you Toni for your video and your research. and thanks for all the ideas.
They found glass in unused jars gee do they not wash there jars before use, when lids came back out after shortages I stocked up enough to last several years in my state Oklahoma we have a store called winco you can buy bulk of lots of things usually cheaper I don't know what other states they are in but worth the visits God bless
I go to asian markets when I'm in the city. I like to make kimchee. And I'll need more red pepper flakes. 😄
Sorry to give you a “thumbs down” but I clicked to watch your video based on the title being about canning lids. I didn’t expect political commentary. There are other YouTube channels for that. 😒
Just about anything from Fox news should be taken with many grains of salt. I never trust that news outlet.
It's good to think of alternatives.
Like everything else, "they" will eventually want to dictate what we do in this area as well.
Grace products are very good and have been around for many years.
Hi Toni! 👋 Tks for sharing this information with us 😃
why would Canadians care what the FDA or USDA has to say?
You know after you buy those Tattler lids, they are yours and you can do what you want with them!
I have been bulk buying plastic Tattler lids, and recently purchased their new metal ones. I haven't used them yet though. I just want them on hand because if oil/gas becomes scarce, factories will shutdown.
Here in Ireland the jars are too expensive to buy !!!!!! —- I only can meat, chicken not veg which I hope to grow
Welcome to the world of the trucker. Maybe he should just freeze their accounts
And it’s not a ban see how things get totally thrown out of proportion.
My relatives in Ontario who are teachers were not supportive of the truckers at all.
Thanks Toni . Great video.
Knew the canning lid story was over-exaggeration. I buy lids on line from Dutchmen's Store, 175 lids in bulk at a time – and they're still selling them. Tried Tattler lids and hated them! 30% fail rate, and there was a video of someone seriously burned when the lid popped off as jars were removed from canner. I have several dozen packed away somewhere, one of those "just in case" I had no other option. So sorry about school and government issues – the world is getting more controlling every day 😞 p.s. our local Mexican food store has bulk beans and large quantities of other things like tacos, tortillas, spices, etc. Sadly, I think we're too rural to support an Asian food market. Thank you!
In BC Canada all lids are hard to find and soooo expensive now☹🤦♀️
Thanks Toni have a blessed day. I saw a friend found 5gallon mylar bags put in bucket say it was sugar packed it really good mid way picked up bag and dropped it so it conformed to the bucket. It had a seal at top of bag. Then the bags also came with the oxygen absorbers so rice etc. You put them in the same way add absorbers last minute sealed bag. So you could get a lot more in those buckets. God bless.
Thanks Toni
Hi Toni from your American Friend. I have a good friend in grocery business . All food will skyrocket after our elections in less than 12 days. If you are able buy food now and small or large generator for heat and food and if you afford. Fox gives News not on other Main Stream Media. When I canned food I used Kerr. Not sure if they make Mason jars and lids. I n my Opinion people are starting rumors about a lot of things. Sam’ s club has some bulk but meat at Costco is a the highest grade meat than other box stores.
Was the cornmeal cheaper?
Please put up your recipes for homemade bread and also do you need an expensive bread maker and what is a good toaster oven. It is just me and live on a very limited income. Thank you.
Seems you really incorporate too much political attitude in your videos. Nothing more irritating then putting up supposed canning video and you click to see politics! Thumbs down! Sorry I don't watch canning videos to hear your political opinions enough of that on tv. You seem a bit negative and like to spread negativity about others.
Enjoy all your videos. Thank you
