Digging a Backyard Garden Pond for Wildlife [Timelapse]

The beginnings of a new addition do our backyard gardens.

This pond will be roughly 275 gallons, 8ft long and 4.5ft wide. The far end in the video is 13in deep with it getting to around 4in deep on the near side. There is a 4in deep shelf running along the back side of the pond for future plants and rocks to sit.

Currently we are in the process of collecting rocks and drift wood to place in the pond to create a natural appearance.

We did add a small solar fountain to keep the water moving for now. It will most likely be replaced/upgraded in the spring of 2023 with something larger, a filter box and maybe a waterfall to the right of the frame.

As a project I have been wanting to start for a long time, I’m eager to keep everyone updated.
