What great things came from your backyard vegetable garden this year? #greentomatoes #figs #celeryleaf #tomatopowder
Join me as I show off a bit of #vegetables from my autumn garden harvest this year. I figured out what to do with lots of green tomatoes. Amongst the big winners were of course, home grown tomatoes, but also zucchini, celery, and green onions and then a few failures which included my cabbage and sweet peppers. The #sunflowers in the garden recovered from being eaten by the deer and we built a decorative #gardenfence this year to combat the local vermin who were dinning on our garden vegetables.
WE were left with lots of green tomatoes. Lots and lots of green tomatoes, so it was necessary to fid only the best green tomato recipes that would make very good use of what didn’t ripen on the vine. Among the best things we made were Green Tomato Marmalade, Green Tomato Chutney, Green Tomato Salsa and Green Tomato Moong Dal. All of these green tomato recipes are so delicious I provided links so you can keep them on hand.
WE grew #figs this year in Northeast Ohio!
What a surprise, there were so many. I dried a number of them to preserve their goodness and I am waiting until November to finish getting the last of the ripening fruit. The plan is to make Balsamic Fig and Peppercorn Jam, recipe by The Girl Inspired blog post from April 2020.
Below are links to the recipes I used.

I ADDED A NUMBER OF THINGS TO MINE, don’t be afraid to go crazy on this one!
Salsa Verde
There are a lot of these recipes available.
