Lots of SQUASH – Beautiful Roses, Hibiscus, Zinnias, Gaura, Snapdragons, and More!
Hi, folks – I’m Kim. Welcome to Olive City Homestead!
No, sorry, I’m not wearing a costume, but my teens are, and here I share their fun “Back to the Future’ and ‘Princess Bride’ costumes with you! I also take you along as I harvest a bunch of Red Roselle Hibiscus!
It’s finally cooling off here at my simple living homestead in Zone 9B northern California. It even RAINED yesterday! I’m still very busy though harvesting and putting up an abundance of produce – including squash, pumpkin, peppers, cherry tomatoes, figs, and medlars!
Want to write me a letter, pop me a postcard, or send some seeds you want me to try? 😊
Here’s my address:

As a middle aged woman gardener dealing with rheumatoid arthritis, cervical disc degeneration, IBS, and other health challenges, I like to emphasize easy gardening anyone can do, simple living garden ideas, and self-care through nature. I believe these things are very important to our physical and emotional well-being.
I approach gardening with a permaculture mindset, and I’m constantly planting more perennial plants. Experimenting in the garden is great fun, and so is using my fruits, veggies, and herbs in the kitchen, so I often share simple living garden recipes on my channel, too. If any of this sounds interesting to you, be sure to subscribe — just click below!

And here are two OTHER VIDEOS I think you might enjoy!
~~Three GREAT Gardening BOOKS ~ For Those Who Love to Experiment~~
In this video, I share three excellent gardening books with you, each with their own unique emphasis. The first thoroughly and beautifully explores and explains the world of growing plants for creating your own teas. Another is an incredibly interesting look at interesting, edible plants and trees you can grow, many of which you probably have never heard of or seen. So many great ones here! The last book is written by the experienced and encouraging British gardener Carol Klein, and she shares in extensive detail (along with gorgeous, detailed photos!) how to propagate almost any plant you want!
~Come See My FRUIT TREES! ~ Plant Your Own FRUIT ORCHARD!~
Does the thought of stepping outside to harvest delicious, healthy fruit from your own trees sound amazing? Because YOU CAN DO IT! And so easily! Much sooner than you think, you could be enjoying your own fresh fruit! So come take a look at some of the beautiful trees I’m growing. You’ll be motivated to start your own fruit orchard!
Thanks again for joining me for this video. I really do appreciate you. May your day, your week, and your autumn be filled with the special peace and joy that only nature can bring!***
Remember, you CAN create the life you want, so why not start right now?
Until next time,
Kim @ Olive City Homestead
