  1. What about a midcentury style conversation pit? That could be cool and accommodates a bunch of people!

  2. I predict bankruptcy within 2 years. The Palm Springs house is a bust and this one will be worse. 7% mortgage rates and the economy is imploding. Dreams of $500+ per night Airbnb splurges are over.

  3. The tan exterior fits perfectly with the Joshua Tree landscape. I like that all the rooms face the pool and that the house has such good flow. Love those architectural angles on the carport and window! It keeps the house from being boxy. Nice work!

  4. Wouldn’t more windows=more sun=higher AC bill? Just throwing that out there! I love the idea of the U shaped house!!

  5. Cool seeing your Joshua Tree house plans! Love your channel and Robilt's too!

  6. Great video Shelby and great to see the design reveal of the Joshua Tree house after months of teasing haha. I do agree, that 3D render was incredible and at a good price too!! Love the actual desert/Joshua Tree touches too that the others didn't.

  7. This is so exciting! The 3D renderings really help imagine the space as it's hard to picture off a blueprint design.

  8. Definitely go with wooden decking around the pool area, much nicer than concrete. Love all the natural features. I would still maybe go with white or something for the outside to stand out more from the dirt and love Rob's idea for pops of colour. That would look great from the road!

  9. Love this 😍 The first video rendering is definitely the best 👍 the bench in the carport between the columns is such a good idea. Also the tan exterior is the way to go. I would make a few adjustments to the floor plan however.

The secondary entrance from the carport leading to the living space by the guest bath would be so much better if it was widened to 5 or 6 feet. Also this is the perfect place to create a line of vision if a floor to ceiling window was added on the opposite wall by the kitchen exactly in line with this entrance.

The wall for the TV in the living room is like a blind spot blocking out the view to the pool and deck from the living room. I understand why it is this way but I think the TV would be better on the wall by the main entrance door so that it's not the main focus. The focus should be looking out to the pool – not a TV wall.

Also would definitely have a bathroom/ shower that has a door from the pool area. Think of Emma chamberlains pool bathroom.

I think continuing with the theme of corner windows I would flip the bath tub and shower in the primary bath so that the bath could benefit from a corner window.

The window above the kitchen bench could also be raised so it's more eye level and your focus is more on the sky than the ground.

The dining corner with the corner window I would pull this window in from the kitchen side creating another wall by the kitchen for additional storage. Like the house from parasite. I hope you get what I mean.

  10. Like the walk thru video! I do think your house design will ultimately cost you too much to build combined with the oversaturation in the Joshua tree market and be a money loser for you. Do you have Construction estimates from Contractors and a definite budget established yet?

  11. The first one with tan exterior was the best for the location. Much like Sedona, AZ, blending into the landscape is definitely a good thing to do. The render was amazing.

  12. I saw Monica's BF say he can tell the two of you apart sure when you had that unfortunate jaw situation but now I stare I just can't

  13. you should consider adding a Baja shelf with umbrellas and body fit seating loungers (they are basically curved long chairs inside the Baja shelf partially submerged) would suit the vibe of the place especially considering its a desert and would also look good for pictures

  14. Please go with the tan color that blends in with the natural beauty of the landscape! Not only will that be aesthetically pleasing, you won't have to clean dust/dirt from the exterior as frequently as a white house in the desert.

  15. All these cool projects are super inspiring! Lovin your content, vibe, and personality – always stoked to see more!

  16. You have huge window openings on the east west and south elevations that will make this building very expensive to cool. An architect that understands passive design principals could reduce this buildings energy usage by up to 80%. If you do the math, this is a huge savings over the life of the building in a desert environment.

  17. I see the options shown in the video are about the interior design. It is a highly personal choice. The property is intended for short term rental business. It is a good idea to use the materials that minimize the possibility of damage and maintenance cost. When you have a CA licensed architect on board, you can ask the architect to review the design. Energy is a major expense in the California desert. The architect will be able to design the shape and use the right exterior materials to minimize heat gain in daytime. The depth of roof overhang and using solar panels on the roof or on ground will help to minimize the operational costs. You can figure out the architecture, structure, MEP, construction, . . . of the house before the interior design of the house.
