  1. I’m gardening in Southern NM and finding shade fabric to be an essential part of my success or failure. 100 degrees is no stranger here as you know. Aluminet fabric is a novelty concept. I think it rejects radiant heat better than, black netting, but the metal veneer peels off and then the sub layer deteriorates fast, you have a two season fabric at best. 40 percent black is cost-effective but 40% shade does not (I’m no biologist but) support photosynthesis though it is better than unshaded sun damage and is only 40% shade at perpendicular angles to the sun, so you have to adjust the orientation as the hours go by and seasonal declinations occur. Have you noticed this as well? I also found that the drop in overall temperature regardless of the type of fabric drops, on average, seven degrees. I’m not a scientist I just use rudimentary tools and I’m on a fixed poverty-level income as I’m in my 70’s and part-time work just doesn’t pay enough to give me enough money to make it worthwhile. Have you done any experiments on shading? Thanks
